Ignorance

Today, Zon's faculty's canteen has some recondition and has closed for today so the students from this faculty has to go to another faculties' canteens.

And of course, both he and Zen went to the engineering faculty as that was the most familiar place than the rest in the campus. If even Zen wanted to go somewhere else, Zon would debate with him for sure.

They talked about random things as they walked to the mentioned place, joking and laughing.

As soon as they reached at the canteen, they both searched for the two seniors, Saifah and Dew, Zen saw them first, sitting with some other people. He called Zon and they went to the seniors' table. As they approached closer, it can be seen that including other seniors and also two girls were sitting with them. One facing Dew and the other facing Saifah, and the latter seemed so close to Saifah as if she had known him for so long and even flirty. Zon kind of hated that and all of a sudden, he remembered something. He turned to Zen and spoke.

"Is she the one you told me about?"

Zen had a straight awkward face as if he didn't want to tell Zon about it but he nodded anyways.

Zon was cheerful the whole way to the canteen but that girl ruined his mood. But he kept his smiley face and just walked casually. As they stood in front of the seniors, the sitting people having their lunch looked up at them. Saifah's face lit up at the sight and Zon felt relieved to earn such a reaction from him.

"Our canteen is closed for the day so..." Zen looked at Dew and spoke.

"Of course, you can. Why not?" The elder said, munching his lunch while watching his news feed on IG. 

Both Zen and Zon went to the food stalls and came back with their respective trays in their hands.

"You go sit next to Phi Saifah." Zen quickly pushed Zon a bit next to where Saifah was sitting and he himself went to sit beside his cousin, Dew. And Saifah quickly shifted both himself and his tray closer to Dew to give Zon space. Zen was the only person who knew about their relationship but it was only because he caught them being romantic in the campus restroom.

The whole time, there was an intense gaze on Saifah from the girl before him and it is awkward but Saifah didn't seem to notice it as he was talking with his friends.

Or he wasn't bothered with it?

Zon was starting to feel dreadful. He was sitting next to Saifah but he feels like he's invisible because that senior girl opposite him was taking all attention from Saifah, talking about things that he doesn't actually know. He really wished he was born a few years earlier, and that he went to the engineering faculty.

Noticing Zon being quiet, Saifah tried to think of a way to please him because he knows that the small boy is about to sulk in some time. He kept listening and talking to his friends but he slowly sneaked his hand under the table and held the soft small hand in his. Zon was startled of his act but he, too, held back and slowly intertwined their fingers, a small contented smile plastering his face.

*bell rings*

As the bell rang, they said goodbye and left the canteen, parting ways to their respective classes.

Zon was already a few steps away when he heard something.

"Can you wait for me at the back of the club building after class, Saifah? I"ll return your...." The rest of the words were faded and unclear as he was already at a distance. But he was sure that it was her voice. The one who was flirty with Saifah. He can't help but to feel insecure and doubtful as he didn't hear the entire conversation.
