Rainy days lead to memories

It started to rain outside.

"It's raining?"

By the looks of it, this place needs some rain.

It hasn't rained in 3 weeks.

It was the strangest thing.

"Well, now I can't go to the movies."

"You never showed me the movies around here."

"I was going to but I don't have a car."

"I have one out back."

"You do!?"

He nodded and lead me to the backyard.

"Nice car."

"It's a Lamborghini."

"How did you afford this?"

"My grandad bought it for my 16th birthday."

"He must have been rich, these cost around $1,600,000!"

"He must have gotten a good deal on it, cause he said it only cost around $5,000."

"Impossible."

He shrugged.

"Was it stolen."

"No!" He chuckled.

"You, my friend, are spoiled."

He smiled and shook his head.

We got in the car and I told him where to go.

Jacobi Cinemas.

The best cinema in town.

The only cinema in town.

We walked up to the counter.

Scream was playing for the first time ever back in cinemas.

So we decided to watch that.

We walked to the counter.

"Well hey, Gabi, I haven't seen you here in a while!"

"Hey Linda, 2 tickets to Scream?"

Linda works up here all the time.

I would come up here everyday to watch a movie.

From 8-17, I've cane up here with Kaitlin or just by myself.

She used to work with my mom at a local store we had around here.

But they tore it down.

So she got a job here.

She's around her 40's and was of darker skin.

She was judged because of her color in school.

She taught me to never give up.

Unlike most of her closest friends..

"Sure thing sweetie. Oh, and who's the sweetie you got here?"

Rider smiled.

"Linda, this is Rider. Rider, this is Linda. She's been with me almost my whole life."

"Nice to meet you."

"Well it's nice to meet you too!"

She looked behind us.

"I got a line. Here's your tickets."

She handed us our tickets.

"Thanks. Oh and could you come over for dinner tonight, it would make mom so happy!"

"Sure, sugarbug. Now you two go enjoy your movie."

We entered the cinema and went to the back where all of the movies were.

It was always so dark back there.

We finally found our movie and went to find a seat.

Once we did, there was about 2 more previews.

The movie had started and Rider did the funny protective thing boyfriends do.

"Hey, if you get scared, I'm always here."

"Please, the last thing I'll need is to hold on to someone."

I said that until the first time Scream popped out.

I grabbed on to his shoulder and he chuckled.

"Scared?"

"No, I'm fine. Perfectly, fine."

He chuckled.

He pulled me closer to him and I laid my head on his chest.

"I'm good."

He smiled and we continued to watch the movie.

Once the long thing was over, the rain had stopped.

We were about to leave when I stopped and gave Linda a hug.

"Dinner tonight. Remember."

"I won't forget! Don't you be doing things you're not suppose to!" She chuckled.

"I won't."

We got in Rider's car drove off.

"So, that Linda lady. How do you know her?"

"My mom used to work with her, I've kinda known her my whole life."

"You know you're always talking about your mom, what about your dad?"

"He died in the military."

That almost made him stop the car.

"Gabi, I didn't-"

"It's okay. He's in a better place now..."

"A better place. I wonder how that will be."

"Oh, yeah...is there a way you can fix it?"

"Not really. The stupid cunt lied to to me. He said he would heal my mom and killed her instantly."

"You know, let's not talk about this right now."

"Yeah, your right."

The rest of the car ride was silent.

Once we got to his place, I could tell he was mad."

"Rider. It's okay."

"I know. It's the past. Everything is going to be okay."

"That's right. You're God's child. It's just a bad dream."

"Then why can't I wake up?"
