There was a cool scent of rain that the breeze carried over the island despite the clear night sky. When Wraith lifted her gaze to the stars as Wattson explained something, an unknown part of her knew she was looking in to infinity; that somewhere, she'd seen more of that infinity. How much of it she'd seen was the question.
Wattson walked backwards as she explained the barrier, making a little more sense of the technology. Despite being a bit clumsy, (especially considering their stumble on the hill hours earlier), it was clear she knew this path well enough to walk it backwards. Her blind footsteps would fall in place behind her around rocks or small dips in the path. It was a bit amusing to see someone that looked so out of place on the island with such a reflexive understanding of it.
Wraith on the other hand; Her dark hair and smooth, quiet stride made her easy to lose in the darkness. Her steps were improvised against the unlit terrain, occasionally glancing down at her boots to prevent stumbling over something unseen.
One looked completely out of place, but knew it better than her own two hands. Another that could easily disappear against her surroundings, but had no sense of it beyond the instincts guiding her every step.
What was different about Wattson that made her so-... Her? So capable of planning beyond what one should be able to predict. Able to laugh and brush herself off so quickly, to try again, and keep trying until she found a solution.
Wraith yet again found herself to be the polar opposite. She improvised and followed her instinct. Every mistake was to be learned from and never made again, because every step put her on a different path.
There was just an entirely different light in Natalie's eyes, like the reflection of the electrified fencing at their side. Renee felt like she would roll her eyes at herself just for thinking that.Though... it almost reminded her of.. When Renee lifted her gaze to the stars, she noticed the dark clouds rolling across them towards the East. The thick smell of rain became apparent again when a second breeze swept another ripple over the grass. Natalie paused as well as their walking slowed to a stop, looking to the clouds.
The blonde seemed interested in the dark formations, "We should probably head back before that storm moves in." Renee nodded, "Good thinking." Wattson started past her just as a few drops of water landed on her shoulders. Renee paused. A ripple of energy moved over the space where she stood, her mind echoing in multiple of her own voice. 'You're being watched.'
Her brows lowered as she turned her head, her silvery gaze moving in every direction, searching the darkness for something out of place. Nothing... She then remembered the prowlers. Snapping jaws and vicious. They were far more active at night, and she didn't like the idea of staying in the open now. Especially if she was being watched by something. A prowler that was watching was likely planning to attack.
Renee followed Natalie back the direction they'd come from. They started running through the soaked grass as the rain grew a bit heavier. Natalie laughed ahead of her, "SorrySorry!!" Renee nearly slipped as she kept up with their near blind sprint, not great at keeping balance while laughing. "I should've checked the forecast!" She pushed the main door open, slipping across the floor as Renee hurried in behind her.
The door closed behind them as Natalie put a hand on her shoulder with a small laugh, "Your hair-" her other thumb swept her black hair from across her brow. Renee smiled a bit, feeling a tropical heat in her face, hoping it didn't show.
Wraith sounded far less out of breath now, "That was fun." The blonde blinked in surprise and amusement, "What? But it rained and we weren't out long-.." Renee added before she could trail, "We got to see the stars, and run back in a storm." For some reason she couldn't understand, there was a light tone in her voice, like she'd just experienced something completely new.
Natalie seemed relieved by this. "Im turning in, did Anita show you where your room was?" Renee nodded, "Yeah, earlier." The blonde swept droplets of water off both her jacket shoulders before giving a peace sign "I had fun, see you tomorrow!" She turned on her heel and started down the hall.
The hallway became empty of her footsteps, Wraith's attention turning the the muted rain against the doors. Her memory recalled the voice warning her just as they were leaving. But no prowler came near.
She noted this for later, disliking the feeling it carried. Pulling her gaze from the doors, she headed in the direction of her room.
