THEKYOTANIFAMILYALLHADBLACKHAIR. Keni and Kentaro's mother had curly hair, so her children both ended up having black curly hair.
But once Keni was cancer-stricken, she had to be put on chemotherapy. Her hair started falling out piece by piece.
It started when she was scratching her head while getting some rest. A chunk of her hair fell out and Keni panicked.
Being Keni's nurse that day was not easy.
The screams that came out of her mouth were ear-shattering. They harbored so much intensity and pain which only increased as the shrieks continued.
How is someone supposed to comfort a now six-year-old girl who is losing her gorgeous long hair?
You essentially can't.
Kentaro remembered when he went to visit her that day. She kept telling him to leave because she looked 'like a witch' and didn't look pretty.
Their mother ended up comforting her daughter to no end for days.
When their mother had finally convinced Keni to shave her head, Kentaro immediately wanted to do it too.
"Mommy, please! If Keni has to get rid of her hair, I want to get rid of mine too!"
The woman looked at her son and willingly nodded. After kissing both of her children's foreheads, she shaved off their hair.
Keni's hair was shaved off clean. Her head was left extremely smooth since she would have to be bald for an unknown amount of time.
Kentaro kept a buzz cut.
"I don't want you to look like a wet egg too!"
In the years after she beat cancer, her hair slowly grew back. However, it didn't grow back the same color or texture.
It was almost as if her head just couldn't muster out the color black for her hair. Her curly hair also didn't make its return.
Although she wasn't complaining. Her new hair was just as gorgeous, and honestly a step up.
It was dark grey, losing its rich black color after chemotherapy. It was now only wavy, losing its curly texture.
By the time Keni reached high school, her hair was nice and long. She took very good care of it. Vitamins, extensive hair care, and caution were all used to maintain her hair.
It had not been cut once since it first began growing back.
