***Still In Flashback***
Walking towards that direction I was told to walk, I know I look thrown away. Dry tears on my face, dirt from the ground I slept on, Leaves and ants and goodness knows whatever else could possibly be in my hair. My white shift is dirty and it stinks with the dry sweat of fear. My body is extremely score. My thighs, butt, and calves feel tight, as well as my stomach. I look down my shift and my body is very toned. I have been running for the past week and for hours on end. Only stopping to eat fruit and vegetables I find, drink and rinse myself from a river, and to do my business.
Last night I had a feeling they caught up to me. I just ran and ran on till I couldn't anymore. call it paranoia. I was miles away I can say I've always been quick on my feet. Anytime I was to get beat I'd always get the worst because I'd run from the Master and he would have a hard time trying to catch me. But I knew this speedy talent of mine would come to use one day. Didn't know it'd be because of my innocent parents death.
They were fighting to escape to freedom. Work for pay and give me a real life, a fighting chance. They had a plan. But somehow the Master found out. Came in that night and just took us. They for some reason trusted that I'd go along at my own free will and I did. But once we saw what they were about to do to my ma, pa, and me. They looked to me with a pained and knowing look in their eyes and told me to run. That is just what I did. They chased me till I lost them by climbing the tallest tree that could hide me well in there bushes. Ma and pa starting fighting back but it only made it worse for them. As I was running I striped out of my heavy clothes. only keeping my shift on. Once they were gone I walked back to see my parents being hung and set on fire. The white men were drunk and laughing sadistically. Like my mother and fathers shaking body and screams from the scorching fires were the best thing they've ever seen in there lives.
"This Is a warning to any of you niggers on this here land!" He bellows out. "Ya even THINK about escaping, or ever try to go over yonder" He says pointing drunkenly to the north. "TO THE FREEDOM YOU THINK YOU GOT! You will die!" Taking heavy long gulps of his whiskey. "You Niggers are my pro-per-ty! Get That thought through your ignorant...human less brains. Work the land, do as you'er told and you don't have to worry about harm coming to ya."
Looking at his face he looks directly at me. I know he cant actually see me because I'm well hide'in but its like he can feel me right there looking at him. he takes another swig of his hot whiskey and smiles like he's come to a great idea a game almost like. "But Act like the heathens you are, and bite the hand that feeds you by trying to leave and I hunt you down, and I'll happily kill you." From then on I'd been running and haven't looked back since.
I feel deep sorrow for my parents departure to the after life. I know they wouldn't want me beating myself up, they'd want me to get up and survive -live. Do what they couldn't. Ma always told me -"Deal with your emotions, you don't, mon bebe - my baby they'll take over and mess you up and it could be at the wrong time." I shall follow the advice given to me. With a tear sliding down my face at the memory of mama. I feel optimistic, hopeful. I will cry, curse, do whatever is needed to get through this hard time. Soon after I'm done I'll smile and maybe feel joy again. Yes sir; that what I'll do.
I don't know what time it is. It looks to be early in the morning. The ground is damp, it looks to be a sun rise, It is so beautiful. The dark blue from knight is fading to a lighter blue. The red, orange, and yellow from the sun the matches the leaves that's still attached to the tress is arising. I would assume it is around 5 or 6. the time everyone would be getting up to go to work in the fields and start breakfast for the nicely dressed, well spoken savage white barbarians.
