"I have your schedule for today." Mason said, entering the dinning room.
"Let's hear it." I say, disinterested as I slip my morning tea.
"Music class at 10am, cooking class at 12pm and you have an outing with a Sir Kent at 1pm." Mason finished.
I sighed. "Thank you Mason."
He dipped his head respectfully.
"Do I sense abit of dread from you?" He asked.
"How did you know?" I ask.
"I have my ways." He smiled." Do you mind me asking what part of the day has you upset?"
"The last part. My parents have been trying for a while to get me and Kent together."
Mason tiled his head. "Let me guess, no spark?"
"Quite the opposite actually, we get along like a house on fire. I love him ...but as a friend and he feels the same but we are both too chicken to tell our parents." I explain as I slipped my tea again.
"Hmm, you both will have to tell them eventually you know." Mason says.
"I know but just not today." I stand, glancing at the clock.
It's almost 10am.
"I shall go now. I'll be in the drawing room and for cooking class I'll obviously be in the kitchen. I'll only need you with I have to leave okay?" I say, standing.
Mason nodded, a faint smile on his face.○●○●
"There's been a change of plan. Sir Kent is coming here." Mason announced.
I glanced up from the book I was reading, resting it aside as I stood.
"That's fine." I say." When-"
There was a knock at the door and Mason open it to reveal a smiling Kent.
"I'm sorry I'm late Sage." Kent says as he stepped inside. "How are you-"
His eyes fall on Mason, he blinks in surprise.
"Oh! And who might you be?" Kent asks Mason.
"Mason Steele, I'm Miss Sage's right hand." Masons smiles politely.
I swear you could see the charm oozing off him.
Kent's eyes flicked to me momentarily but before turning his attention back to Mason.
"So nice to meet you Mason. Tell me how's my girl been?"
My girl?
I furrow my eyebrows.
Hold on.
I side eyed Kent.
Stiff shoulders, straight back, chin up, a smile plastered on his face and he's standing really close to me.
Is Kent threatened...by Mason?
"She's been an absolute angel." Mason answered.
He looked completely relaxed like he didn't have a care in the world while Kent's shoulders were as stiff as a board.
"That's Sage, always the sweetest. That's why I'm in love her." Kent says.
No, I'm not!
Wait... in love?
What the hell is he playing at!?
"Mason, you are dismissed for the time being." I cut in, already pushing Kent towards the drawing room.
Mason rose an eyebrow, seemingly amused.
"Just call whenever you need me." Mason smiles before turning on his heel and walking away.
I shoved Kent into the drawing room and slammed the door shut.
"Hey! Hey! Why so rough?" Kent cries, yanking his arm away from my grip.
"What the fuck was that?!" I hissed.
He looked at me innocently with his big brown eyes ." Whatever do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean!" I exclaimed.
He just smiled at me as he took a seat on the sofa.
I shot daggers at him.
"What?" He chuckled.
I threw a book at him, unfortunately he ducked.
"Hey! Don't be throwing shit. I could've gotten hurt." Kent exclaimed, jumping to his feet.
I took a step towards him. "Oh? That's the point. What was that about?"
He looked down at me, then ran a hand through his brown curls.
"Asserting my dominance."
"What? Wait.. why are you threatened by Mason?" I ask.
"Threatened is a strong word but have you seen the man? I'm not even gay and I'm attracted to him." Kent sighs
I furrowed my eyebrows together again." Yes, but why lie?"
Kent looked me dead in the eye, nothing seriousness on his usually playful face.
"I didn't lie." He said.
"What?" I blinked.
Maybe I didn't hear that properly.
"I didn't lie Sage."
I froze.
"I shouldn't have said it in that manner but I'm in love with you." He chuckled humorlessly.
"No you aren't." I shook my head, walking around him.
"Not the answer I thought I would get. What makes you think I don't?"
I stared out the window which over looked the pool.
"What's my favorite color?" I asked now.
"Red."
"Wrong. What's my favorite book?"
He looked to the roof as though he could find the answer there.
"To kill a mockingbird."
I laughed." Wrong. What's my favorite breakfast food?"
"Eggs with toast." He sounded confident in his answer this time.
"Wrong again." I smiled. "And that's why you aren't in love with me Kent."
He paused then nodded.
"I'm willing to learn." He said.
"Who says I'm willing to teach?" I ask
He sighs, rubbing behind his neck." You don't have to teach me, I'll learn on my own."
I glanced back at him. "Fine, but please don't go around telling people you are in love with me because if someone ask me, I will say I don't love you. You don't want that kinda gossip going around right?"
Kent nodded.
"Right."
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in." I shout.
Mason stepped into the room, holding a tray.
"It's tea time." He smiles but it was directed at me.
"Oh right." I mumbled as Mason poured us each a cup of earl grey.
Kent eyed Mason but didn't say anything.
I watched the two men.
They were so vastly different in appearance.
Kent had brown curls that framed his face, tan skin that held freckles, brown puppy dog eyes and his face was rounder and chubbier than Mason's, often reminding me of a child with his soft features.
While Mason on the other hand, had almost shoulder length jet black hair that was often tied back, smooth pale skin ,grey eyes and sharp features.
The most they had in common was their height, both men were about 6ft.
"Do you need anything else?" Mason's voice caught my attention.
I shook my head." No, that'll be all."
Kent glanced at his watch, a panicked expression came across his face.
He quickly slipped his tea, not even taking a seat.
"I have to go Sage. I completely forgot about a lunch date I planned with my mother." Kent says.
"Give her my best." I replied, sitting on the sofa with Mason hovering around.
"I will." Kent says, nodding at Mason before almost running out the room.
Mason went to follow him but I held up my hand, stopping him.
"He knows his way out." I took a slip of my tea.
Mason glanced down at me and nodded instead.
"Anything else on my agenda today?" I ask.
"No. Not that I'm aware of."
I stood, passing him but stopping by the doorway.
"Good, I'm going to bed." I say.
Mason tilted his head in the cutest way. "It's barely 4pm."
He crossed the room so fast that I barely had time to react when his bare hand touched my forehead.
"Are you ill?" Mason asks, gazing down at me.
Oh god, he's so close and there's that lavender scent again.
His hand moved to my neck, still looking for signs of a fever but I nearly fainted from his soft and gentle touch on my neck.
Mason didn't notice that my breathing got heavier.
"I'm not sick." I managed as he dropped his hand but he didn't step away from me.
"Are you sure?"
I nod.
He stared at me for a moment before stepping away.
"Okay then. Would you like me to extort you to your room?" He asked.
"No." I said way too quickly.
He rose an eyebrow at me, his face almost like stone.
Was he offended by my rejection? But as quickly as it came, his hard expression disappeared and a bright smile was on his face now.
"Alright. I'll come get you when dinner is ready." He said.
I blinked at him, surprised and abit creeped out by how quickly his expressions can change, like a switch being flipped.
"Okay." I mumbled as I exited the drawing room.
He didn't even look back at me as he walked away in the opposite direction.
There's something wrong with him isn't there?
I sighed as I walked to my room, pushing thoughts off Mason out my mind.
I pushed open my bedroom door and dead stopped.
Mason turned around, a smile on his face.
"I laid out a dress for dinner for you and I also ran you a bath." He says.
How did he get here?
I swear he was walking in the opposite direction so how the hell did he get here before me?
"H-how did you get here before me?" I ask, not stepping any further into the room.
His face gave nothing away." I took the shorter route. Rita informed me about it."
For a second, I believed him but then it occurred to me that none of the staff knew about the short cut through my father's office.
I narrowed my eyes at him but he just smirked at me as if challenging me to question him further but I didn't.
"Oh." I took a step forward but not too close to him, i glanced at the dress on the bed." Thank you."
Our eyes never left each other.
He nodded." I have the dinner menu to sort out so I'll be back later Sage. If you need me just yell."
I nodded and he disappeared out the door.
I waited 30 seconds before rushing over and locking the door.
I suddenly feel very anxious around this man.
How did he get here before me?!
I paced my room, racking my mind for any logic explanation but I didn't have any.
None of it made any sense.
The only thing I could've gone on was a complete and utter lie so what do I think now?
Maybe he isn't human.
I shivered at that thought but I shook my head.
Be realistic Sage.
Mason is human... right?
I flopped myself on my bed, staring up at the ceiling but then I sat right up and without a second thought, I stripped and entered the bathroom.
I eased myself into the bath tub and tying up my long blonde hair.
I stared at the white marble walls of my bathroom, allowing the water to burn me.
Strangely enough, it was soothing and I relaxed.
After a while, I forced myself out of the tub and after drying off and throwing on a very thin almost non existent night gown, I crawled into bed.
Yawning, I made myself comfortable and I fell asleep.●○●○
I'm not sure how much time had passed but I felt a gentle poke to the ribs and I cracked my eyes open.
Mason was gazing down at me and I instantly got nervous.
"Finally you are awake." He said softly. "Dinner is ready."
I nodded stiffly, not moving.
His normally gray eyes flashed red momentarily as his eyes raked over my frame.
"You should change first." Mason says now.
My face flushes bright red and I pull my sheet closer to me in an attempt to hide my barely covered body.
"Right." I mumbled.
He turns away but then he turns back around as I climb out of bed.
He sighed." Sometimes you make it hard to work for you Sage."
"What do you mean?" I ask confused, still fully aware that he could almost see everything...
"I mean look at you.. you would make any man go wild. Sometimes, I think about you." He took a step towards me. His gray eyes drilling holes into me.
"Sometimes I think about touching you, making you scream my name... I think about making you submit to me but that can't happen." Mason sighed as he looked down at me.
Suddenly why wasn't I scared?
He took a step back, turning his back to me.
"Why can't It happen?" I blurted out.
Bloody hell Sage!
Mason glances back at me over his shoulder, a sly smile upon his face.
"There are so many things you don't know about me. We come from two completely different worlds." He chuckled. "You are too fragile for my world.."
"What do you mean? Explain it to me" I ask.
He shook his head, messing up his black hair.
"Not now, some other time. Now get dressed, your parents are waiting for you " Mason smiles weakly, then without another word he leaves the room, leaving me beyond confused and curious.
So I was right.. he is hiding something but what? What is this world he thinks I can't be apart of?
He wants me...
I get warm at the thought of sex on legs Mason wanting me...
Get a grip! Many men want you so why does this one make you feel giddy?
I sighed as put on the simple black dress Mason had laid out.
You've got some digging to do Sage.
