The intention was to leave it at the last part originally and wait for someone to ask for a part 2, but I can't wait, so.... Let's go!

TW: Major character death (He comes back to life), thinking someone broke a promise, physical therapy, being left handicapped. Let me know if I missed any!

"'I will never leave you Lexi, never.' John's words fell weaker through the last sentence as his grip on Alex's hand fell and he went limp"

Alex cried harder as John said his last words. The paramedics rushing into the house 5 seconds too late.

As they saw Alex, they rushed over, quickly pushing Alex back and putting John on the stretcher.

Alex watched as they took his boyfriend away, his last words echoing in Alex's head.

"I will never leave you Lexi..."

"You promised, John. You never break your promises." Alex was muttering, mostly too himself, as the police brought Alex in for questioning.

Alex wasn't all there for the interview, he was off trying to figure out why John broke his promise. Why did he make a promise he knew he couldn't keep?

The police had to snap him back to reality several times, eventually they decided they weren't going to get anything out of him anymore and let him go.

Alex walked back home, his guardian, Olivia, frightened and unable to call the police was unable to get a hold of him, and it was very unlike him to be home late.

As Alex walked in, he went straight past Olivia too his room, not even muttering a hello.

Olivia, clearly worried, tried to question him, but for the first time in a very long time he went straight to bed instead of writing.

Even in bed Alex was unable to get to sleep however. He kept tossing and turning, trying to figure why John lied. Trying to make sense of it just made everything worse.

He doesn't know when he got the call, but he had been told to rush to the hospital as it was important. Olivia drove him, but he didn't want to go. Whatever it was, it wasn't as important as John's death.

Although, when Alex got there, he quickly changed his mind, as he saw John awake on a hospital bed in the waiting room.

As soon as Alex saw him, he race to his side, pausing only for a second to make sure he didn't hurt John while hugging him tightly. John returned a one-sided hug back.

"I thought I lost you."

"I never break a promise. You know that."

As soon as Alex had pinched himself he started fussing over why John was in the waiting room instead of in the hospital room. Making sure the nurses were being nice. Double checking if there was anything he could do to help.

As Alex was talking, john interrupted, "Alex, calm down, I'm okay, I'm right here. Why are you so wound up anyway?"

"I thought I lost the one thing in life I care about, I didn't hear anything for a whole week. Everyone thought you were dead. I'm not risking it if there is anything at all I can do I'm doing it."

"Damn, it was really that long? I thought I was out a day, tops."

The nurses beckoned Alex to follow them as they took John upstairs. John had several I.V.s sticking out, at least 2 of them were blood, which was being artificially pumped through his system, one was water, another was antibiotics, and one last one was full of proteins and any other thing you would get out of eating food. The nurses filled Alex in on everything that happened Alex being the closest thing to to a guardian John had right then. Alex listened as closely as possible, understanding John wouldn't be able to leave the hospital for a while, the bullet grazing several organs making it very difficult for John to even be awake right now, but as soon as John woke up, all he could do was tell the nurses that he had to see Alexander Hamilton, not remembering how he went out, just knowing  Alex wasn't there so something had to be wrong.

Alex smiled when he heard that story, but that smile dropped soon after when the nurses said they didn't know if John was going to be able to move properly again, and even then he'd need lots of help getting there.

John wasn't all that worried about his health, he knew he wasn't leaving, and that's all that mattered to him. He slowly fell asleep, feeling utterly exhausted without really being sure why.

Alex noticed this, and panicked for a minute before relaxing after seeing John's breathing. He looked peaceful.

Alex went back to that night, remembering how peaceful John looked as his hand fell from Alex's hand, which now had a cast on it, and Alex began tearing up, so overwhelmed with everything. But the one coherent thought on Alex's mind was John's "last" words.

"I will never leave you Lexi, never."

After a couple of months, John was in physical therapy, it was hard to see his boyfriend struggle so much. Especially as John struggled with basic things. Lifting a glass with nothing in it was painful. John panicked about school because he couldn't do his homework. being too constantly tired to be able to do much of anything.

Alex pushed through the struggle of seeing John so helpless. The nurses told him John was doing very well, and they shouldn't logically already be working in physical therapy. But they were.

John still had I.V.s in him a lot, but he was drinking and eating on his own now. The only thing that was still being put in him was blood, as his heart was still struggling to keep up with anything.

Alex was almost never at home, he only came back to grab paper, more lead for his mechanical pencil, or to grab something for John. All of which Olivia had ready the moment Alex arrived so he could go back to John.

Alex was barely keeping up with school work, but he wasn't going back until John was better, so he did it all at the hospital while John was asleep, which was a lot.

After a little over a year, John was able to go home for the first time. Still having no place to stay, Olivia said John could stay with her and Hamilton until they found somewhere nearby for John, knowing if John had to be placed into the foster system it was likely Alex would never see him again.

John arrived in a wheel chair, finally off of the I.V.s, but still having a device on his chest to keep his heart pumping. He was only able to stand up for 30 seconds on his own, but the nurses and doctors told Alex and John that it was a miracle that John had gotten that far.

John and Alex spent as long as possible together. Alex refused to go back to school until John could.

When John was able to go home, Lafayette and Hercules visited about once a week, keeping the two lovers apart as long as possible, hoping to avoid any conflict being together that long may cause.

John was finally doing school work, 1 year and 5 months in. He was also up to 1 minute in standing on his own, and he could take 5 steps before collapsing. He was sort of able to walk with someone supporting him, but his heart couldn't hold him up very long.

2 years in and John was back in school, caught up on school work. Alex had his schedule moved around as much as possible with the slightly different career paths they were on. Alex made sure John had at least someone to wheel him around and carry his stuff to each class.

John still had physical therapy, but that was to maintain his hour standing time and 20 steps.

He never did lose that heart device he used, and he got made fun of for being stuck in a chair.

One time a kid pushed John over in his chair, which knocked the heart device loose. The kid thought it was funny, John went to the nurse. Alex beat the kid up until he didn't think it was funny anymore.

After 3 years, both of them were out of college, married, and happy. John was never able to get a job, but Alex was a law maker, and so they had enough money to live comfortably, and always had staff on hand to make sure everything was okay when Alex had to leave for  work, they both got overwhelmed at times, and nothing was ever perfect, but they both got the best they could with what they had.

Do I have 2 stories I should be writing for? Yes. Do I love this little story more than I should? Yes. Am I making two more parts eventually with John's side of the story? Yes. Am I just trying to come up with questions because I think I'm funny? Also yes.

Hope you enjoyed! I sure did.
