Another shift went by and soon it was the end of the night. I threw myself down into the nearest chair as Gabe closed the door behind the last of the guests left in the diner, locking it tightly behind them. Today was a rough one. I started to unlace my shoes and pulled my sore feet out.
"Eww I don't want a feet smell in the diner!" Gabe exclaimed from behind the counter. I could see the humor flashing in his eyes and I quickly raised my middle finger.
He let out a deep throated chuckle and flashed me a smile, "How you holding up kid? The was a rough one."
I held my feet in my hand as I tried to massage the pain away.
"I am actually fantasizing about a shower right now," I sighed. "I can actually feel the hot water on my skin right now."
"Well the sooner you get your ass up, the sooner we can finish up here," Gabe smiled at me.
I groaned as I shoved my feet back into my sneakers and pulled myself up. The rest of the girls bid us goodnight and soon enough, Gabe and I were back at our normal routine. This time I moved rather slowly to finish my tasks for the night. I was seriously hurting after today and couldn't wait to get home and crash.
After what felt like forever, Gabe finished wiping everything down, all the napkin holders were filled and the floors were swept. It was finally time to go and I was beyond excited. Walking into the back room, I opened my locker and grabbed all my stuff. As soon as I picked up my phone, I saw three unopened text messages.
Shit, I thought to myself.
I completely forgot I had to go home and deal with Mr. Green Eyed Ass. I felt my face grow warm as I started to get annoyed all over again.
I opened the messages and they read as follows:
Whatever I'll see you later tonight.
Hey I need to come now to get the collar.
I told you I need the collar now are you going to answer or not?
I huffed out and clicked my phone closed before I walked back into the main sitting area of the diner. Gabe was standing by the front door, obviously impatiently waiting for my slow ass.
"Today junior," he called over to me.
"Geez who lit a fire under your ass?" I asked back sassily.
He just rolled his eyes and swung open the door for me as I walked out past him. He pulled it closed behind him and I patiently waited for him to lock the door. We hugged goodbye and I started my trek back to my apartment.
I pulled out my phone and tried to think of a polite way to respond to the man that made me want to rip my hair out.
I'm sorry I was at work. I just got out and am currently walking home. I will be home in about 15 minutes if you want to head over now. You can grab the collar and we won't have to talk ever again.
The last part might have been a bit mean but honestly could you blame me? This man had been nothing but rude to me after we only interacted once. My phone flashed and I glanced down to see his response.
K.
The audacity. I mean I honestly can't be too surprised but like? I just rolled my eyes again and clicked my phone closed once more. At this rate, my eyes might get stuck with the amount of times they rolled around in my skull.
I was just about two blocks away from my apartment when I suddenly felt goosebumps all over my body. The feeling of dread that started in my chest and moved down to my stomach overcame me and I started to breathe heavily. I threw my head in every direction but for some reason couldn't find the source of my uneasiness.
The darkness that loomed from the areas not lit by the street lamps instantly felt even darker and I felt so uncomfortable. I quickened my pace and was moving so fast it could have been considered a jogging pace. I made it to about a block from my apartment when a loud clash sounded from behind me. I quickly turned around to see a raccoon run across the empty street.
That was enough for me to start running down the sidewalk. Call me crazy but raccoons are just something you don't mess with. Where there is one, there is usually more. I kept running as my apartment building came into view and I didn't stop when I reached the stairs, taking two at a time all the way down to my door. I pulled out my keys breathing heavily.
"What's your deal?" a voice sounded out from behind me.
I screamed and jumped around.
A hand reached forward and covered my mouth as I was pushed against my door.
Mr. Green Eyed Asshole himself stood in front of me. I blinked and did what any sane person would do. I licked his hand.
He pulled his hand back and stepped away from me as if I had shocked him, "What the fuck! Did you just lick me?"
"No. And don't touch my mouth you weirdo," I said. I hunched over and put my hands on my knees as I tried to catch my breathe.
He gave me a weird look, "Says the one that screamed bloody murder. Why are you breathing so heavy anyway?"
"I saw a raccoon and had to run home," I huffed out.
A booming laugh filled the hallway and I swear my heart skipped a beat.
Damn I wouldn't mind hearing that forever, I thought to myself.
Realizing I probably looked like an idiot gaping at him, I straightened up and twisted my key that was left hanging in the lock and pushed open my front door. I stepped inside and Mr. Green Eyed Asshole followed me inside.
"I didn't invite you inside?" I questioned him.
He rolled his eyes, "Whatever I need the collar and hurry up, I have somewhere to be."
My eyebrows furrowed and I seriously had to pause. I really couldn't believe how one person could be like this. This bad boy attitude really had to go.
I just slightly shook my head at the attitude and turned to go retrieve the collar from my kitchen island.
I'm really glad I cleaned my apartment today, I thought to myself.
Grabbing the collar off the counter, I walked back over and handed it to him.
"Goodbye now," I said while grabbing onto his shoulder and spinning him around toward the door. I pulled it open and lightly shoved him out the door.
"Is this how you treat all your guests?" He mused turning back to face me.
"Only the ones I really like," I bit back.
"The ones I absolutely love, I do this too" I said smiling as I closed the door right in his face and proceeded to click the lock.
I can't wait to take that shower now. I started walking toward my bedroom when a knock sounded upon my door. I turned back around and unlocked the door, swinging it open.
"So you love me?" Mr. Green Eyed Asshole smiled.
I blinked slowly.
"If I could strangle you with that collar, I would."
"Ooo kinky," he winked at me.
He actually winked.
I slammed the door shut again as he let out another booming laugh. I heard it fade as he walked away from the door.
I hope I never see that man again.
Something to know about me though, things I hope for I don't usually get.
