I sat on the counter while mom finished up her welcome basket for our new neighbours and Emily poured out a glass of orange juice for the both of us. I'm actually kind of surprised that the Dilaurentis' actually sold the place. It's kinda weird to me because I always thought when you lose someone, you would wanna stay in the place that reminds you of them the most. I think I watch too many crime shows to be honest.

"I can't believe they sold the house." Emily said passing me my drink. I thanked her before turning to watch mom obsess over the smallish basket. I don't get why she just couldn't make cookies or something. At least then I'd be able to take some. Like what self respecting person would want any of the stuff in that basket?

"Just too many memories for the Dilarentis'! I can't even imagine."

"It's just so weird to think of other people living in Alison's house." Emily said.

"Especially people who would like stuff like that?" I said pointing at the basket. Mom glared at me slapping my arm before continuing to fix up the basket slightly.

"I know honey."

"Aria's back." Emily said changing the subject. Of all the subjects she just had to change it to Aria knowing how much mom hated her hair. Mom's smile dropped then reappeared so quickly I'm pretty sure sonic would've missed it if he wasn't paying attention.

"Does she still have that pink hair?" Em and I rolled our eyes and I can see and feel the regret rolling off my twin.

"No mom, she doesn't." We say. Mom moves some stuff around before finally leaving the basket alone.

"You know something? I never understood that family," Here we go. " Why would a mother let her daughter do something like that?"

"Because they want their kids to express themselves in ways other parents don't really allow."

"Because they believe their kids are their equals. not their property." Mom looks at us blankly.

"I don't think you two are my property," I beg to differ. "But I am your mom, what kind of a mother would I be if I let either of you run around looking like a goth? That kind of style might fly in Europe but it won't get you very far here in Rosewood!"

"Not everyone dreams of making it here in Rosewood mom."

"Oh?" Mom gives us a small grin walking away. I'm guessing that means we have to bring the basket to the Dilaurentis' old house then. But I'm so tired I was constantly running from Hanna today. I practically lived in the dance studio because she wouldn't stop trying to talk to me. Who told her I wanted to talk? I didn't even get to really talk to Mona because Hanna was always with her. But at least I got to talk to Mikey. He's cool although he made me promise not to call him Mikey in front of his friends or anyone on the lacrosse team as if I haven't already.

"Some people dream of making it out." I jump off the counter grabbing the basket,

"Come on twin let's get this over and done with so I can go sleep." Emily nods and we walk out the house but not before telling mom that we were leaving. We walk over to the Dilaurentis' and notice some boxes with what I'm guessing is Ali's old stuff in it when Emily pulls out an old medal. A girl walks out the house, and I tap Emily's shoulder and she looks up looking at the girl who's walking towards us.

"You want that? Maya St.Germain A.K.A New girl." She introduces waving at us. She's pretty cute you know. And it looks like Emily is thinking the same thing.

"I'm Evan, she's Emily." "I'm Emily, she's Evan." "We're twins. Welcome to the neighbourhood." We say pointing at each other. Em passes her the basket smiling politely.
