a/n: sorry i've been neglecting wattpad a little bit! I'm preparing the next few updates right now :)

A warm hand on your thigh is the first thing you feel when you wake up the next morning. You're laying on your side, one leg sprawled over Tom's hips, your front pressed against his side and your cheek nuzzled into his chest. You can feel Tom's fingertips gently caressing your thigh, so you open your eyes to make sure you're not still dreaming.

"Mornin'" Tom greets you with a relaxed smile before placing a kiss on your forehead.

You sigh at the feeling. You never thought you'd be waking up in Tom's arms again. But here you are.

"Good morning." You mumble and snuggle a little closer to him. Your usual caution forgotten in the sleepy haze you're still in. Tom's hand gives your thigh a gentle squeeze before he wraps his arm around your waist.

"What time is it?" You finally ask after a few minutes of relishing being held by Tom. You feel his arm shift so he can look at his watch.

"Half ten."

"Wow. I haven't slept that long in...I don't even remember." You let out a laugh and pull your head back a bit so you can look at him with a lazy smile.

"Hope that's a good thing." He nudges your nose with his and for a moment you stop breathing, suddenly aware of how close he is. For the past few weeks you've found yourself wanting to kiss him on numerous occasions. But you didn't know if it would be a good idea. The lines of whatever you two are were already blurred and you still hadn't really talked about how things ended between the two of you.

Nevertheless, as if there's a magnetic pull coming from him you lean in closer. His lips are only millimetres away from yours and you can feel his soft breaths hit your lips. You pause your movement to look at him. His eyes are hooded as he gazes down at you. Will he kiss you now? Close the small distance between you and remind you of what if feels like to be kissed by him?

You don't get answers to these questions, because before you know it the door to Tom's room is shoved open.

"Hey Tom have you seen-" Harrison pokes his head inside but pauses when he sees you laying in Tom's arms, both of you staring at the blond wide eyed. "Oh, uh, sorry guys." Harrison chuckles, then turns to Tom. "Have you seen my green jumper?"

"I don't know, mate. Maybe it's in the laundry?" Tom grumbles and Harrison gets the hint.

"O-kay, I'll let you get back to it." He closes the door again and you detangled yourself from Tom. Maybe that was a sign that you shouldn't kiss him. That you shouldn't dive head first into something that could possibly break your heart. You clear your throat and move to the foot of the bed to get out without touching Tom. You needed to get some space between you and him. Your brain seemed to turn off whenever he was near.

What were you thinking? Kissing Tom would make everything so much more complicated than it already was.

"We should probably get ready." You say after a moment of silence. You still had time until you had to be at the garage but you had no idea what else to say and you felt like sitting around the flat with Tom was just going to mess with your feelings even more.

You felt anger and frustration rise inside of you. Why did Tom still have so much power over you? You need to do what's best for Theo and you don't know if getting involved with Tom will be good for him, or you. Of course you have that image of the perfect family in your head. But you and Tom still had so much to discuss. You still hadn't really talked about the break-up. You know you'll have to eventually, especially with how things between you and Tom have evolved, but you were scared. Scared of ripping open old wounds and having to get over the same pain again. Scared of bringing memories to the surface you've successfully suppressed for four years. And as much as you want to be the independent woman that takes care of her son alone, you're scared of Tom leaving you again.
