Chapter 4
Kiana
As I lay back on the waxing table mentally preparing for the torture, I began reminisce about all the things Victoria and I have been through over the years. The day we met came to mind....
I was sitting at the dining table in my small one bedroom apartment, trying to figure out how I was gonna take care of myself, a baby, finish school, and pay all my bills when there was a knock at the door. Only one person that I know knocks like that.
"Look Kalvin, you said everything you needed to say last night. I hope you and your wife have a fabulous life, but me and my baby don't need you." I said through the door.
"It's not Kalvin," a feminine voice replied. "It's Victoria. Can I come in? I promise you I'm not here to start trouble. I just think we should talk about our futures."
I opened the door to see a tall, beautiful, dark-skinned girl with long, natural hair, a small baby bump, and a DONK! No Homo, but if somebody told her to haul ass, she'd have to make like 5 trips.
"Come on in," I said. Then I thought about it. "Hold up! You're not packin', are you?" I said giving her the side eye. She burst out laughing. Well, I thought to myself, at least she has a sense of humor.
"I do have a gun," she said, while sitting in my previous seat. "But it's reserved for bitch ass niggas, not intelligent ladies such as ourselves." She sat her purse on the table, then she noticed all the bills on it. She opened her purse, took out her checkbook and a book of stamps.
"What are you doing?" I asked while walking over. Notice I said walking I was born at night, not last night.
"I'm doing what my deadbeat ass husband should be doing." she stated calmly while licking and stamping an envelope. "I know you told him you didn't want any help, but I decided that he's going to help you whether he wants to or not. How's your schedule today?"
"Uh, um, I don't have anything planned, why?" I asked, dumbfounded.
"Well, now it's full. I'm gonna finish paying these, then, we're going to the post office to drop them off. After that, we're going to the bank to open a joint account for you, then we're going to lunch. After that, if we're not too tired, we can go shopping," she replied.
"Wait, what?" I asked. " I didn't ask you to do none of that. I told Kalvin I didn't want any help and I meant that. It's bad enough I got pregnant for his lying married ass. I can't take money from his pregnant wife!" I yelled. "Wait a minute, is this a setup? Are you doing all this so you can take my baby when it's born? Cause if it is, it ain't gonna happen! Ain't nobody gonna raise my baby but me!" I swear my ass was hysterical. I was crying and pacing, just all over the place. But she stayed cool. She finished with the bills and put the envelopes in her purse.
She studied me for a second, took a deep breath, then said; "First of all, in casr you didn't notice, I'm pregnant my damn self! How crazy would that look, me taking care of two babies, months apart, at the same damn time? Where they do that at? Second of all, I just want our babies to grow up together. I was an only child, and when my parents died last year, I was left alone in the world. I guess that's why I married Kalvin so fast, so the world wouldn't feel so lonely. It's hard going through life knowing there is no one out there to have your back, to love you unconditionally. From what Kalvin told me, your in the same boat. I couldn't bear the thought that you would go through your entire pregnancy by yourself, so I came over to try and build a relationship with you so you wouldn't have to. When I told you I wasn't here to start anything I meant that. If you don't want to deal with me directly, I'll make sure you have enough in the account to take care of you and the baby." She said while grabbing her purse and standing up.
