Mum: pops I don't know what to do anymore
She was crying and I just wanted to hug her so much

Me: what has he done?

Mum: hes skipping school, I have no idea what he's doing, he comes home late very night and doesn't speak to me.

Me: why didn't you tell me sooner mum I would've spoke to him or something

Mum: he's not listening to anyone pops there's no point, I'm loosing hope

Me: where is he now?

Mum: he's meant to be at school but who knows, his teacher rang this morning to ask where he was and said if he misses another day he will get expelled.

Me: I'm so sorry mum I had no idea it was this bad. I'm going to try and ring him now and I'll get back to you

Mum: okay I'm sorry I had to come to you poppy. I didn't know who else to go to.

Me: mum please don't worry about it, we'll sort it out I promise.

Mum: thank you poppy for listening to me, let me know if he answers yeah?

Me: of course, please don't worry

Mum: okay love you lots darling

Me: yeah love you too

I ended the call and dropped my phone on the bed and flopped back onto the bed and sighed.
"What's happened?" Nick said
"My brothers being an idiot" I said rolling my eyes. I picked my phone up and dialled his number. There was no answer. I rang again and still no answer. After 4 tries I decided to contact my guy friend that I used to be really close with. His names Liam but everyone called him lee, he's the same age as me and is like a brother to Sam, my brother. He answered on the second ring

Me: hey Lee it's me poppy

Lee: oh hey pops how are you?

Me: alright, you?

Lee: I'm great yeah? Not seen you in ages! How's LA life?

Me: it's great actually, I miss you all though

Lee:yeah we miss you.

Me: I was wondering if you could do me a favour?

Lee: of course anything!

Me: I guess you know sams gone a bit of the rails

Lee: Yep I heard that, I came to visit your mum the other day and she briefly said

Me: aww you still visit her?

Lee: well yeah I made a promise to you I would check up on her every once in a while and I do

Me: thank you Lee, that's sweet

Lee: no problem I don't break my promises

Me: well you haven't in the 18 years I've known you anyway.

He laughed

Me: has he spoke to you?

Lee: no I'm sorry I kind off thought he would come to me but he hasn't

Me: I don't know what else to do

Lee: have you tried to speak to him

Me: I just tried ringing him but he didn't-

Lee: hold on someone's at the door.

I heard him open the door.
"Oh hey Sam what can I do for you?" He said and I sighed and shook my head.
"You said you were here to talk if I wanted" I heard Sam say
"Yeah of course come in" I heard Lee say. After a minute Lee came back on the phone

Lee: look who showed up

Me: uh yeah that was weird, thank you for being there for him, I'll let you go

Lee: no problem I'll go and find out what's been happening

Me: thank you lee I appreciate it

Lee: no problem speak to you later pops.

I ended the call and looked at nick who was curious to what just happened
"Is everything okay?" Nick said
"Not really, my brothers been skipping school and nearly put my mum in an early grave" I said
"Oh is she okay?" Nick said
"She will be soon hopefully" I said
"Who was the guy on the phone?" Nick asked curiously
"I'm sure I've spoke about lee? Liam my guy best friend from back home?" I said
"Oh yeahhh" nick said and nodded
"My brother has a week left before summer and he can't just go in. Unbelievable" I said shaking my head
"Maybe he has his reasons" nick said
"They better be good ones" I said.
