It was 11:50 p.m. and Jughead was in his room, well his and Betty’s room. She was asleep on the bed and he was at the desk typing as carefully and quickly as possible. There were energy drinks, burger wrappers, and coffee mugs littered all over the desk, Jughead wasn’t very fond of energy drinks but they ran out of coffee. There were dark circles around his eyes, evidence of his staying up. Then the ac kicked in, FP likes the house cold after work if it was hot outside.

Betty was enjoying the sleep she was getting, it was hard to sleep without knowing if Jughead wasn’t okay. He was hours away so if something happened she wouldn’t be at his side as soon as possible. But he was home for the weekend, so that meant much needed rest. She started getting cold, the discomfort was enough to make her whinny. She got up to grab extra blankets and noticed her room was slightly more lit up than usual. She looked toward the source of this lighting and noticed Jughead on his computer typing away.

“Jug?” She said groggily.

Jughead quickly turned his head, still on his caffeine high. Betty studied his face, his eyes were surrounded by dark circles, he was slightly twitchy. She was suddenly concerned.

“Jug what are you doing up?”

“Working,” he said, getting jittery.

“When was the last time you slept?”

“The night before last night”

Her eyes got wide, the concern for her boyfriend was through the roof.

“Jughead, get to bed now,” she said to him as he turned back to his computer.

“No”

“Jughead Jones get your ass in bed” she whispered yelled at him.

“I can't,” he replied.

“Why?”

“Betty, I’m high off of caffeine and sugar, not only that I’ve been looking at blue light, it’ll take me hours to go to sleep”

“Well then turn off that damn thing and get your ass in bed, and no more energy drinks for you”

“Betty-”

“Don’t ‘Betty’ me, it’s the weekend we’re supposed to be relaxing damn it” she exclaimed “not only that I’m cold, and I don’t want to go to the hallway closet for extra blankets, so you're my next source of heat, got it?”

He sighed and nodded.

“Just one more page?”

“Fine one more page”

When Jughead finished the page it was already 12:15. He turned off his computer and quickly cleaned the desk off. Betty was sitting upright on the bed wrapped in a blanket and holding herself to keep the heat circulating.

“You’re a fucking workaholic ya know that”, Betty mumbled trying to nuzzle further in her blanket cocoon.

“No I’m not” he said as he unwrapped her from the blankets and cuddled her.

“Non-workaholics don’t wake up their girlfriends with their constant typing” she reasoned.

“Let’s just go to sleep,” he complained.

“Your only saying that cause you know I’m right, but I ain’t gonna say anything because I’m tired as hell, so goodnight dearest boyfriend”

They both fell asleep, not caring about the events yet to come. None of that seemed to really matter though, even though that was basically how the young romance began. None of it seemed to phase them as long as the other was around.
