It's weird. He broke my heart. He shattered it to bits. And it can never be mended. But now...it all feels weird. I've been keeping secrets from him.
I love him. And now we sit in a guidance counselor's office together, because we went through the exact same thing.
"We just gotta get y'all laid. Just go do it together!!" The guidance counselor/nurse says.
"Um-excuse me? You, the nurse, and guidance counselor, want me and Cole, to do it together? Is that what i heard or is my ears acting weird?" I ask.
"You heard me. Now i have 27 other kids out there waiting. And it is 8:00 and time for your flu shots!!" He says and pulls out a needle.
"Shit!! No no no!!!" Cole and i say in sync trying to get away from the nurse but he gives us the shot.
I stand beside Cole in the gym. My arm stings like someone poured hot lava on it. Cole looks at me. "You ok?" He asks.
"Yea....its just...the needles bring back things I wanna forget....i wish I could forget the whole night." I mumble.
"Not all of it though, right?" He asks smiling.
"Yes Cole. All of it. I watched my sister die in front of me, I watched her murder people, I was shot in the arm, stabbed in the arm, I killed people. I watched someone who had just kissed me kiss another girl right in front of me like I was invisible, I was almost choked to death. I want to forget it all." I say, holding back tears.
Before Cole can say anything, two dodgeballs hit us it the heads, and the coach yells "PUSSIES!!!!!" before walking out, but not before hitting us in the head with another dodgeball each.
"Great day, huh? First our counselor wants us to have sex, we get flu shots, and then we get hit in the head with dodgeballs. And the day isn't even over yet." I say sarcastically.
"Yea well let's get to class." He says draping an arm over my shoulder and we walk to class talking and laughing.
"Hey. How y'all doing?" Melanie asks walking up.
"Good. Well other than our counselor telling us to have sex." Cole says.
"Well then. Good luck, don't get preggo." Melanie laughs.
"We aren't really gonna do it melanie." I say rolling my eyes. "The counselor is stupid and just wants us to move on from that night." I add.
"Yea I remember. There was hiding, death, but i also remember there was kissing." She says getting closer to Cole. He backs away, bumping into me, sending me to the ground.
"Well, what I nice day it is from the ground." I mutter, before standing up just to be pushed down again by boom boom.
"Nice one." Melanie's boyfriend says before I feel someone grab my arm and pull me up. Diego.
"Thanks." I say. He ignores me.
"So y'all comin to the lake? It's gonna be fun!!" Jimmy says.
"No, I'm having a movie night with Cole." I say.
"Whatever. Nerds will be nerds." Boom boom says before they all walk away with Melanie.
"Ready? Class." Cole says and we walk to class.
"Guys this is pheobe. Our new student." The principal says and Cole is the only one to give a rawr before the whole class does unenthusiastically.
