Yay! I'm finally bothering to update this thing. I apologize for those waiting; but as I might've mentioned before I write fanfictions on more than one site, and I also have a blog & YouTube channel, so you can imagine how busy I am. Anyways, enjoy this chapter!

Disclaimer: This wouldn't be called a fanfiction if I owned it, now would it?

Miles took a deep breath. There was no way he'd let this man get away with this crime. He stood out from behind the shelf, slowly tiptoeing towards Von Karma. Images of him being kicked flashed into his brain, but he quickly shut them out. 'A lawyer can't be frightened by a minor setback.' He reminded himself. With a burst of energy, Miles ran as fast as he could towards Von Karma, who seemed-for once- startled. Miles had taken into account Von Karma's rather tall stature, so he jumped as high as possible, reaching for the folder. He managed to snatch the folder out of Von Karma's hands and ran towards the door. Von Karma moved to block his path, but Miles- skinny as he was- got past him easily. He ran as fast he could towards his father's office, praying he was still inside. He heard Von Karma's dress shoes clack loudly on the floor behind him. He skidded into his father's office, immediatly running over next to him, the folder clutched to his chest. "Miles! What are you-" Before he could finish his question, an angry Von Karma walked in, and slammed the door to the office shut. "This...This child of yours stole my folder!" He sceamed, death glaring Miles, who held his ground and sent back a glare of his own. Mr.Edgeworth eyed Von Karma warily, but bent down next to Miles and took the folder. He opened the orange flap and looked inside. After putting the folder back in it's original state, Edgeworth's gaze met Von Karma's once more. "I do believe that isn't your folder, it belongs to me." His eyes narrowed as he spoke, forming an almost glare.

Von Karma snorted, his anger having gone down a bit. "Give me the folder." He said, venom dripping off of each of his words. Miles, who had resumed clutching the folder, looked Von Karma straight in the eye. "Never." Miles took a few steps forward. "You dare call yourself a prosecutor?! Someone on the side of law?!!" Miles spoke with such anger even Mr.Edgeworth was surprised. His son was generally soft spoken if talked to, but he'd never seen the angry side of Miles. "You're a criminal!" He spoke the word as if it was some forbidden curse, something he didn't want to come out of his mouth. At this accusation, Von Karma took a few meancing steps forward, but Miles once again held his ground. He refused to back down to someone who was no better than those who had killed, stolen, and so many countless other things. "Give me, the folder." This time, Von Karma really sounded furious, even though he said it quietly. Miles was a little afraid, but he shook his head firmly. Mr.Edgeworth quickly motioned for his son to walk back next to him, who quickly complied. "Give it to me!" Von Karma was back to yelling, his face twisted with rage and his eyes burning with hate. Miles noticed Von Karma hadn't shut the office door properly; it was half open. Running as fast as he could, he darted past Von Karma and out the door, trying his best to ignore the furious shouts coming from behind him.

'This looks like a safe place.' Miles thought, to out of breath to say anything out loud. Besides, Von Karma was probably still giving chase, and he didn't want him to know he was here. He hid behind an empty evidence bin, hiding the folder inside his jacket and pulling his knees to his chest. Miles hadn't expected or wanted all of this drama to happen; he'd just wanted a nice visit to his father's office. He took a sharp intake of breath. Footsteps, footsteps were walking this way.  He hoped it was his father, though judging by the sound of running it could also be Von Karma. A figure rounded the corner, the office light shinning on their face. It was-
