"I don't know what to do." Gordy kept staring back at Floyd as if he'd have an answer. But Floyd's blueberry eyes didn't budge.

Floyd had gone with him and Jane to look at a family housing apartment at the university.

"Am I crazy? Have I totally lost it?" He was carrying Jane on his hip as he looked through empty closets in the two bedroom. The whole apartment smelled of fresh paint.

"Do you want to sleep with Serena?" Floyd squinted then.

"I shouldn't even be saying anything in front of Jane." Gordy shook it off then and let her down to investigate the new beige carpet. Everything was old hardwood floors but the two bedrooms.

"Yeah, like she's going to bitch at you about this, later." Floyd opened the bathroom door to look at the bath. "I doubt that bath could hold two people."

"Well, you're not coming over for a bath." Gordy informed him.

"Its just I don't know, if Serena was, you know, inviting me over or what?" Gordy was still stuck on Serena and what she'd said about how she could make him sleep better. Maybe. Maybe it was a sleep study and he was just confused. He sighed then and said aloud. "I really do need to kiss her, again." He rested his hands on his back pockets then and found that Jane had already found her room. She was laying where her bed would go. Just rolling around on the floor as if she had it all planned.

"What? What did you just say?" Floyd yelled from the bathroom while he was taking a pee.

"Nothing." Gordy sighed. Then he bent down and gently tickled Jane's belly. "Hey, baby, we're gonna be in here soon." He smiled at her. "This is your room, and your old man is starting classes. So you be good for me. All right?"

She laughed. He smiled and picked her up in his arms. Gordy hoped he was doing the right thing.
