KIKIOPE

For the past two weeks, I've been ignoring Khalid's call, school would be resuming in a week's time and I still find it hard to believe he won't be resuming with us. The holiday had been the most boring holiday ever, I was the only one at home so far Moye had gone back to school, all I did was sleep, eat, read and write.

I really missed Khalid and I'm so sad we didn't even get to say a goodbye and now I've been ignoring his messages and calls which I don't seem to understand why.

"Kikiope," Mama D called as she walked into my room. I looked up from the book I was reading, one I was reading for the third time. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers was one of my favourite books and I enjoy it every single time I pick it up.

"Ma," I replied succinctly. It was Sunday afternoon, so, that explains why she's home.

"Your school would be resuming soon right?"

She queried and I nodded while wondering why she was asking.

"You said your school is making boarding compulsory for every one of you abi?"

I bobbed my head, "Yeah but you don't need to worry about the hostel fees, I'm on scholarship."

"Oh," she mouthed and I nodded.

"Okay then but you need to tell your father, you're his responsibility so, he should pay the money for your provisions abi it's included in your scholarship?"

I shook my head.

"Then you have to go and tell him."

I scrunched my brows. Why would I go to that useless man?

"Why? We don't need to collect any money from him nau."

"He has to pay for this, so, just go to his place to inform him, so, he'll send the money and you'll start your preparations," she explained and I creased my brows.

I protested, "But he..."

"See, Moye's dad is paying all her expenses, so I see no reason for your dad not to, infact collect the hostel fee from him gan."

I slumped my shoulders, "Maybe you should call him on the phone."

She stared at me as if I'd grown horns, "Why would I do that? Just go to his place, he's going to be around now."

I pursed my lips, "Can I go some other time?"

"No, I need to hear his response now."

I sighed before standing up, "Okay," then I picked up my phone from the study table and walked out of the house heading towards that irresponsible man's place.

"What do you want?" Abimbola bellowed immediately I stepped into their house.

I rolled my eyes, "I'm here to see your father."

"For what?"

I ignored her and headed towards his study before she grabbed me, "Why do you want to see him?"

I jerked my hand away, "It's none of your concern," then I climbed the stairs.

I didn't bother to knock on his door, so, I just strolled into the room only to meet him seated on the couch with Khalid's dad. Seeing his dad was getting me riled up but I decided to face what I'd come for.

"Good afternoon," I greeted.

They both looked up and I could see the surprise on my father's face.

"Kikiope," he called and I rolled my eyes.

"I came here because my mom wanted me to tell you that I'll be going to the hostel next term," I announced, and he nodded. Well, he should have known about it so far Abimbola and Abimbare would also be going.
