He set foot on the golden sand.

Link looked around the desert. Where should he look first? It was vast and hot. He turned his eyes to Arbiter's Grounds.

I should probably check there first. It seems more likely for something to happen there, I guess.

Link was the independent type. He usually went independently by himself, he just felt better that way. Although, it would be good to have some company during his adventuring like Midna did.

He observed the desert. Link usually observed a lot more than to talk, so he didn't talk that much. He walked through the desert to Arbiters Grounds. A strong gust of wind blew into his face, and sand was in the air. Link covered his nose and moth, coughing. He took his hand off his face after the gust of wind stopped and scratched his head.

Link continued walking through the desert. Thank goodness he brought some bottles of water. If he didn't, he would probably dehydrate. Link reached into his pouch and grabbed a bottle. He pulled off the cork and took a couple sips before putting the cork back on and putting it away. Link licked his lips and continued on his walk.

Link finally made it to Arbiters Grounds. That walk was probably about 20-30 minutes, but it felt like forever to get there. He looked around. It was silent and everything was abandoned. The dust on the walls reminded him how quickly 2 years can pass by. 2 years...it had been that long. Maybe time passed by so quickly because Link was always adventured and did stuff around Hyrule. He always felt like days were so far away, but also so close.

Link walked through the dungeon rooms. Finally he could put his spinner to use. It was actually quite fun to use, but too bad there wasn't much he could use it on. His bow and clawshot were far more useful than that.

When Link made it up, he opened the door leading on the top of the structure. Before he went up, he grabbed his sword that was behind his back. It wasn't the master sword, but it was almost exactly the same as it.

Link somewhat missed the master sword, he felt a strong connection to it. He didn't quite know why, but it always called to him. He felt more powerful with it too. Of course, the master sword is made to vanquish evil. Evil was gone, so he went back to the pedestal and placed it back. It was what he was supposed to do.

That also reminded him of his mentor, the Hero's Shade, who guided him and taught him useful sword combat moves. Even though he did not know him well, he was sort of his mentor, his guide, and someone to look up to. At least his techniques were passed on to him. Perhaps he's now at peace.

Link was on guard, ready to face anything that was a threat to him. He walked up the stairs and listened for anything. Nothing was there. He continued to walk up until he reached the top. He turned his head towards the place where the mirror stood.

It was no longer a mirror. It was a mirror frame with nothing there. The blank slate rock stood there in the same place as it did 2 years ago. 2 years ago, he parted with his dearest friend. Midna. He walked over to the mirror frame and looked at it in silence. He wish he could assemble it back together like he did when Zant broke it. But no, it was shattered. When it broke, the mirror shards turned into little sparkles, disappearing afterwards leaving no trace. She really was gone.

He hopped down from the platform and walked over to the blank rock. He put his hand on it.

"You really are gone, Midna. Why...? Why did you do it?" He muttered.

He slowly took his hand off the rock and looked down. Link wished that perhaps the mirror could've somehow been back, but he thought it was just selfish.

No, Midna broke it for a reason. I'm just being selfish.

Link sighed as he looked up. He looked at the 6 columns, representing the 6 sages. He clenched his fist and gritted his teeth.

If you guys could please, just tell me...what's going on now?

He closed his eyes hoping they would appear.  No, there was nothing. No signal, no help, no nothing. He stopped the pressure building up into his clenched fists and let it go. Of course. He looked back at the mirror frame.

Midna's voice saying"Link...I...See you later..." echoed through his head. He smiled and looked down.

Link felt happier. He was upset that she was gone, but he knew she was still out there. He's grateful for having an amazing companion like her. He was happy that it happened, that he got to meet her. Meeting someone like her was once in a lifetime.

"I hope you're doing well, Midna. See you later."

He shed a single tear.

Link then walked away, going to continue on with his task.
