At this point Virgil has had so many interactions with his fellow sides that his body for once did not freeze. The mouse ran at high speed trying to get as far as possible from the creature bounding down the hallway. To him he couldn't seem to make his tiny legs run as fast as his mind was forcing him to, besides this fact he still made it to a doorway. Virgil tried to force his body underneath like in the Mindscape, but his body wasn't as...flexible as it was there. Here he was solid and he couldn't just slip under a door that was a fourth of his size. He clawed at it for dear life like it would just magically open at his command, forcing him to make little scratches on the wood that probably were not visible to the human eye. He turned around only to look around as much as he could. He could feel his heart pound in his chest. In all honesty he could have sworn he was a minute or two away from a heart attack. He knew in his mind if he was human his hands would be sweaty, he would be pacing in the area, and a small scream might have emitted from his body that would not have been intentional. The fact was, he wasn't a human. He was an animal. He turned his body around trying to watch for the dog while he curled his tail around his body the best he could so he could squeeze his body as close to the door as he could.
The dog ran down the hallway and Virgil just watched with curiosity. He wasn't chasing anything. So why was he like this. Maybe it was a random spurt of energy? Virgil has watched animals before, obviously, and once in a while it would seem like if a dog or especially cat got a spurt of energy and wanted to get it out they would randomly just run all around the house. No goal, nothing to chase, just trying to release energy. Patton must have been doing the exact same thing at this moment. Virgil had a feeling Patton got overexcited about something and couldn't hold in the energy anymore so he transformed, but no one wanted to play fetch. The only thing left was to run around and let his dog tongue flap in the wind like he was having the time of his life.
The dog ran to the end of the hallway. Virgil would have sworn he would run into the wall with how fast he was going but saved himself by skidding to a stop and turning around so abruptly that Virgil honestly couldn't catch how he even did this. Patton abruptly steadied himself, turned around, and started to run at high speeds down the hallway. " He must not have all the energy out yet." Virgil thought to himself. He watched as Patton ran at high speed going down the hall thinking he was safe, but heard the animal skid to a stop. Virgil could honestly hear the dog dig its claws into the carpet and if there was too much force applied he would have ripped holes into it.
Virgil's shaking body waited patiently to see if Patton stopped running because he got distracted by something or noticed him as he ran by. In all honesty if he was in the Mindscape right now his body would have probably fazed into the door behind him from the force the mouse was applying on his body just trying to stay hidden and secure. He stared straight ahead just waiting patiently for the dog's form to come into view, which didn't take too long. He watched as suddenly the Golden Retriever's body slowly walked into his line of sight. The dog obviously noticed him and was coming over to inspect the visitor. He just stared as Patton walked right in front of him. Virgil watched as the dog sat down with his legs right in front of him perfectly, head tilted to the side, trying to figure out what was in front of him.
No. Patton was still in that creature and all the other sides already knew about the mouse in the house, so he wasn't curious about what he was or why he was here. He was probably curious why Virgil wasn't running away.
When the mouse didn't move, basically causing a staredown between them Patton laid down with his head on the ground. He seemed to be trying to get level with Virgil some reason. Virgil had to admit he was beyond scared, but what exactly was Patton doing? He didn't move and keep staring at the dog. He got so nervous and antsy from not moving that the mouse ended up taking a paw and brushing around his head like he was grooming. In reality, in human form Virgil would not stand to be so still when he was nervous, so he would move his hands by flicking them or messing with something. This was the same premise. His body would not allow him to be stationary and stand his ground, even as an animal he was still finicky. He watched and realized Patton was scooting closer to his body. He backed up as much as he could like before, once more having his body stopped by the door.
