"We just hook up occasionally, Brianna. No one needs to know about this. Especially after you cheated on Monty... with me."
"And now the whole school possibly knows, Scott. Because of a dead girl."
I get up from the ping pong table, avoiding looking at Scott standing in front of me. "Uhm, I should be heading upstairs, I want to find Sheri..." He simply returns a nod and follows me walking up the stairs, parting our ways once we reach the dance floor.

I soon spot Cheri dancing with a few other girls and I join them, moving my body along to the beat. As I am swaying my hips, I feel someone joining me from behind, slightly grinding my body and following my direction. My intoxicated self is enjoying this moment too much, not really caring who this person behind me is. As I open my eyes I see Sheri giving me a raised eyebrow look, this is when I decide to turn around.
It is none other than my Ex-Boyfriend Monty. I am not even surprised to see him, a slight grin on his face. I let out a sigh, mouthing him a simple "Why?" He moves closer to my ear so I could understand him over the loud music playing in the background," Because, you look absolutely stunning here, and I didn't want you to have to dance all by yourself."
"I am not dancing by myself, Monty. I am dancing with my girls!" I turn around to join my best friend once again. I can feel his intense gaze staring at me, his eyes not leaving my body. But soon enough, he decides to leave to attend somewhere else to.
After a little while, I let Sheri know that I needed some fresh air, but she decides to follow me.
Once we reach the backyard, I take my packet of cigarettes and light one. "Can I have one too?" she kindly asks me. I hand her my packet and the lighter.

"Doesn't it feel kinda weird, that we're here? Partying after what happened with Hannah? At Bryce's house?" My best friend asks me. "Yeah, it is... But at the same time it is your last free weekend... I am not gonna see you for a while. How will I survive Liberty without you?" I turn my face toward her, giving her a pouty frown.
She simply giggles, but then proceeds to hug me. "You're gonna manage, Bri." "I am not sure I will. But I'll survive."
We continue partying until it is time to leave. After arriving home, I make sure to be ever so quiet to not wake up my mom. I plop down on the bed, quickly drifting to sleep.

* January 2018 *
The school is not the same anymore. Alex attempted suicide and was in the hospital, Jessica stopped coming, nobody knew where Justin was, and of course, Sheri was in Juvie.
Whenever she did find the time to call or text, we would, ever so occasionally. She let me know that she had two roommates that were recovering drug addicts. I reassured her, that she'd be out in a couple of months anyway.
While seemingly everybody is gone, I decide to focus on studying and on my cheer-leading. In the meantime, Chloe gets voted for cheer captain and I am somewhat happy for her.
Even though I am in the cheer team, I try my best to avoid the jocks - especially Monty and Scott.
It's just weird, seeing both of them at school nearly every single day, after all that has happened. My secret with Scott is something we both just never talked about ever since, and it seems like we are keeping it this way. Monty has also stopped with his advances towards me, at least for now.
I start to hang out with Zach more often, as he is one of the nice Jocks, just like Jeff was. He is someone who actually likes a person for their personality, not their looks.
