It's only 5pm after I settled down and my friends told me that the sun sets here at around 8pm. We still got time so we decided to go to Walmart, where you can find almost everything they say. I'm exhausted from that freaking 22-hour flight, but I got to check that infamous Walmart. Besides I need to get some stuff like pillows and other essentials.
We got to Walmart in no time and boy so far what I'm loving here is that there's no traffic. So, the so-called Walmart is like a huge department store and grocery combined into one. I got all the essentials I need. When I say essentials, what I meant is Biscoff and yogurt, can't go on a day without these two.
There's a McDonalds inside Walmart, so we decided to just have our dinner there. We didn't really go around that much at Walmart but I'm pretty they have more interesting stuff to offer. Can't wait to go back to do my grocery shopping and act like a real adult.
Bringing all the stuff we got from Walmart from the cab to the apartment was exhausting, quite an exercise I must say. It took us an hour to fix and put everything in place. Me and my roommates also did some arrangements inside the room so all our beds will fit and making sure there's enough space in between for privacy. Well maybe privacy is the least priority in this room because there's gonna be four people that will be sharing it.
I'm lying on my bed, dead tired from the flight and from all the errands we did, and I still can't sleep. Freaking jet lag won't cooperate. Ok last resort, maybe if I count from one to five hundred, I might eventually fall asleep.
I woke up from the sound of my alarm. I'm still sleepy but I must get ready ASAP or else we'll be late.
I don't want to be late on our orientation and make a bad impression on our superiors. My roommate and college friend Christine will be joining me. "You ready?" she asked. "Yup and girl I'm quite nervous".
She just smiled at me and obviously looking nervous too. Who wouldn't be, right? It's our first ever job/internship and its freaking thousands of miles away from home.
We arrived at The Gaylord Texan Hotel and Convention Center where will be having our internship as cooks. The hotel was quite near on our apartment so we can walk when going to work which is nice because we can save up a little cash. Me and Christine together with all the other new interns are standing in front of the employee entrance with a huge signboard on the right saying Welcome Stars. So they call us stars here huh, cute.
A lady came to us and told us to introduce ourselves and from what country we came from. Ok this is what I hate the most. Introducing yourself is as easy as 1 2 3 but doing it in front of 30 people or so? Bruh, its nerve-wracking. It's not really cold in here but I'm pretty sure when somebody touches my hand, they might think that I'm a walking corpse. I felt a nudge on my side. It was Christine. When I look up, everyone's looking at me. Oh God. It's my turn.
The lady from the HR and some other interns laughed softly "Introduce yourself dear. Don't be nervous." Oh my freaking God was my expression looked that bad? Urghhh. "Uhm Hi, uhh I'm Khloe Pangilinan from Philippines" I smiled at everyone, awkwardly. Way to go Khloe. I just sighed and listened to everyone as they introduce themselves.
