"What do you mean, 'they found me'?"
"I'll explain once we get to my place. We'd better hurry." He started walking away from me.
"What about my mom!"
"I saw her leave a minute ago, they came in right after." Wait was he stalking me outside of my house?
"I wasn't stalking you Rhiannon. I was coming to pick you up like we agreed." I almost forgot he can hear my thoughts. I've gotta watch what I think.
.
It was freezing outside and I was wearing shorts and at t-shirt. I didn't even have time to grab shoes and I only had one pink sock on.
When we reached the car I put the heat on full blast.
"I think I have some clothes in the back seat. But, they're mine so they might be a little baggy." he must've heard me complaining.
He handed me a gray pull over sweater and a pair of white sweats. They weren't the most fashionable but they were warm.
"Better?" He looked at me with big eyes.
"Better." I said back smiling.
He shifted the car into reverse to get out of the park. I'm surprised those guys didn't hear or see us leave. They must not be too good at their job.
The ride there was like the last back. Silent. The road was smooth but the feeling in my stomach made it seem hard. Everything was starting to hit me hard.
"So it's gonna be like this forever?" I didn't even look him in the eye.
"Like what?" He didn't bother to look at me either.
"This! It's all just been a roller coaster. Sometimes I can see the good in this situation and sometimes I can't help but only see the bad. And right now I really need to know what I'm getting myself into. Am I going to be chased down everyday until I die? Or is this a random thing happening that'll pass." My voice got more firm as I went along.
"Honestly." He raised an eyebrow, "I don't know. I'm trying to piece this all together but it doesn't make sense. I haven't been hunted in almost a year. They completely forgot about me."
"Well then how did they know about me?" I turned to look at him now.
"That's what I have to figure out."
The rest of the way he told me more about everyone who was killed last year. I can't imagine losing that many people in one day. He's been alone for much too long.
"There was even a girl." He said with a rock hard stare
"Tell me about her." I half smiled.
"Her name was Carina... S-She was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. She actually looked a lot like you." he gave me a slight smile. I felt my cheeks heat. He thinks I'm beautiful? "She had powers like none of us had ever seen. She could do anything I could do and more." He looked over to his left. "You may not understand this right now but I need you. You're the closest thing to Carina I've had in a while, and I'm not sure what I'd do if I lost you too."
The car came to a stop as he spoke but I wasn't in a hurry to get out. He turned as we stared at each other, frozen.
"You're so beautiful." I felt my cheeks heat again. This time, I covered them embarrassed. "You don't have to be embarrassed." He grabbed my hands and moved them from my face.
He moved in slowly to kiss me. Our lips moving in sync. It was completely wrong. I'm 16 and he's 19 but right now I don't care. He's an amazing guy.
I pulled away when we were in full throttle, smiled, pulled the keys out of the ignition and turned to open my door. He, stunned, stayed behind as I turned the key in the door and walked in with a full grin on my face.
As I walked up the stairs I could hear his footsteps in the distance walking slower than usual. Am I that good of a kisser? I smirked and continued my way to the room I was staying in before. I think it was to the left? Or maybe it was to the right? Shit there's so many rooms in here I can't remember.
I followed my first instinct and walked to the left but it all looked the same. Finally I came to a door that was different than the others. It has red lining and handle and the door was made of black crystal. Curious I opened the door. It led into a beautiful wide room filled with painting after painting after painting. The walls lined with shelves filled with books, photo albums, and old dusty tapes. I wanted to check out the tapes, as I'd only read about them and how they were popular almost 160 years ago, but somehow I was attracted to the photo albums. As I pulled one out of the tightly packed shelf, dust flew out and I fanned it with my hand. It was a pale yellow and had writing on it that read "Summer Fun 2139" the first picture being a group picture. Immediately I was able to spot out Logan. He was young with shaggy hair and huge teeth. Puberty is such a wonderful part of nature, I giggled to myself. I scanned directly to the left of him and there was a girl that looked similar to me. That must be Carina.
"She was beautiful wasn't she?" An unfamiliarly deep voice spoke from behind me as I looked up with wide eyes..
I'm super excited about the next few chapters! The ideas are flowing through me like water! This chapter is a little late because I'm sick right now 😔 But I promise I'll update before or on Monday.
