"If we weren't on such a tight deadline, I'd have told you to pay Chanyeol a visit."

Seulgi gave Daniel a pointed look, "I'm over him, I told you."

The two of them were currently at a diner, grabbing a quick bite before executing their grand plan of finding the Kwon Clan.

"Try that lie on someone who knows you a little less well, Seulgs. Maybe it might fool them," the brunette boy chortled, before turning serious again. He leaned forward, lowering his voice. "But that's not it. His father died just yesterday, family mansion scorched to the ground. The underdogs are saying it's the Lees."

"Why is it that interesting things only happen when I'm away?" the dark-haired girl complained. "What else happened?"

"Nothing much. Lee Sunmi left the Lee Clan revolt and no one has any idea whether Lee Yongqin is in or out. Oh yes, and apparently a brawl happened in the bar the Parks own. Just a rumor though," Daniel listed out. He tapped his chin wistfully, "I think that's pretty much all."

"And Jeon Soyeon?"

The brunette boy blinked, "What about her? This is so strange, why is everyone suddenly concerned about her? First mom, now you. What happened to her?"

Seulgi studied the boy's expression warily, searching for any sign of deceit. "Shot. Dead."

A stunned second passed. Then another.

"It was Mom, wasn't it?" Daniel said finally, raking a hand through his hair, visibly tensed. "No wonder she'd asked me to check if Soyeon was related to the Dong Clan. God, Seulgs, I'm so sorry. I should have-"

"Was she?" She quickly elaborated at the confused look on the boy's face. "Anywhat related to the Dong Clan, I mean."

"This is the interesting part," Daniel lifted a finger. "She had no blood relation to the Dong Clan, instead she had that to the Lee Clan."

"A taint. Lee mother, Jeon father," Seulgi nodded, taking this in better than the boy had expected. "Both dead under Lee Jinhyung's orders, no doubt. Back to the Dong Clan, so she had had completely nothing to do with them, whatsoever?"

"Dong Sicheng could have been friends with her. It is said he doesn't leave a city without taking a little spin around and winning at least thirty thousand. They're bound to have met in the race arena." Daniel looked up with a start. "Right, a note came along with San's pinky. It was in Chinese. Would you be able to translate it?" The boy produced a very crumpled piece of paper from his pocket and slid it across the table.

"以眼还眼,以牙还牙," the dark haired girl murmured, reading off the note easily. "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Soyeon must have been mighty important to him."

"How are you so sure it's Soyeon he's seeking revenge for?"

"San called me yesterday. And the first thing he brought up was Soyeon's death. It must have been that which triggered this whole-" Seulgi made an elaborate hand gesture. "Situation? Quite honestly, if Lady Taeyeon wasn't our mother, I would have done the same."
