The Falcon buzzed as it's engine started back up again. The doors had shut leaving the sandy world of Tatooine behind. Rey felt complete. Here she was closing the circle of the Skywalker family, yet opening up a new path to the world in front of her. She hopped into the pilot seat and plugged in the coordinates for Ajan Kloss.
"Alright BB-8, let's go home," she said calmly. BB-8 responded with lots of excited beeps. You could tell he was excited to head home.
The two jumped into hyperspace before they could utter another word. Tatooine was nothing but a place and a memory now. Rey knew it was time to move on. To start anew.
The ship slowly came to a stop. They had arrived back on the Resistance base which now was full of a lot more happiness and rest than planning and fear. The green plants surrounded everything to the point where only this small spot of land was cleared for landing. Rey had always loved coming back to Ajan Kloss. With all of the fresh, lush greenery, she could never get tired of the view. Especially since she came from a place that was completely different. Her cheeks grew warm as the ship's engine quieted down, and she saw the familiar faces of her friends Finn and Poe. She rushed out of the ship and ran to embrace them both in a quick warm hug. Ever since the Battle of Exegol, she made a promise that she would always cherish every moment she had with them. BB-8 followed Rey right off the ship rolling down the ramp and over where the three of them stood.
In this moment, Rey knew. She knew that she couldn't let her friends or even the Jedi who came before her down. She knew that she had to start living in the present and to start thinking about the future, instead of remembering the past. She had been thinking about this for a while, but hadn't decided to mention it to her friends at all. Finally after what seemed like minutes to Rey, she blurted out to her friends, "I need your help!"
"With what?" they both replied, almost in unison.
"I've been thinking about it for quite some time now, and I think we need to bring the Jedi back. Regrow the order. Teach a new generation," she started. "But I know I can't do it alone. That's why I need your help. I know there are so many force-sensitive people out there in the galaxy, I just don't know how to reach them."
"Maybe we can send out a signal. Beam it to every system! You know, you can just go on and say something about how you're looking for some more force people who want to learn the force and stuff and tell 'em to come here," Poe replied happily. He'd always come up with ideas pretty fast. His idea was quite good and Rey acknowledged this. The two had decided this seemed to be the easiest way to get people to come.
Finn took a second to process everything the two of them were saying and responded kind of quietly, "Hey Rey, can I talk to you for a second?"
"Sure!" she replied gladly. The two stepped away from Poe for just a second. Poe didn't mind that as it gave him time to reunite and catch upwith his favorite droid.
"Well, you remember that time that we were sinking in the sands on Pasaana? And I wanted to tell you something, but I just didn't get the chance?"
"Yes?" Rey replied reluctantly.
"Well, this is it. This is what I wanted to tell you. I'm force-sensitive Rey. I don't really know how long I've known for, but I've just known. Always. Everytime you'd mention some Jedi thing, I just felt like I could relate to it! Rey...I- I could sense you dying during the Battle of Exegol." Finn felt like he had just relieved a huge weight off of his shoulders.
"I know Finn." Rey replied as a small smile spread across her face.
"You- you did?" Finn questioned, "How?"
"A feeling"
"Well listen Rey, you want to start up the whole Jedi order again, I'm with you! I think what Poe mentioned is a good idea. And hey! If people come who aren't really force sensitive then maybe they can just join the Resistance! Even though there's not really much to resist right now."
"Thank you Finn, it means a lot. And I'm glad you told me. I will do everything I can to help you reach your full potential!" Rey's heart grew. She knew how Leia must've felt to train her, and already she was feeling that in herself with Finn. The two of them came back over to Poe who was still admiring BB-8.
"So? What're we thinking?" Poe asked excitedly. Rey and Finn had told him what they had discussed. Poe smiled. He was so proud of his friends. The three of them ran back to the cave that held the base. Poe found the equipment needed for the transmissions and plugged it into the data-computers. Rey held the holorecorder in front of her. A nervous feeling surged through her body. Would anyone hear this message? What if this was all a mistake and she ends up following down Luke's path? She took a deep breath and all of a sudden felt relieved. No. She had to do this. The Jedi brought peace and united the galaxy. This is what the galaxy needed after the fall of the Final Order. Peace. She had to find those people out there who were force sensitive. From Coruscant to the Outer Rim.
"It's alright Rey, just pretend you're talking to us," Finn could sense Rey was still uneasy.
"Alright, I'm ready," Rey exclaimed. She took a deep breath and Poe began the recording. Rey proudly began to broadcast her message across the galaxy.
"Hello. This is Rey Skywalker. For a long while I have been contemplating what the future of our galaxy will hold. And while I know that may be uncertain, there is one thing that I do know to be true. The Jedi will grow. There are many of you out there who are force-sensitive. From infants all the way to elders. If you so happen to be and wish to be trained, it is with great honor that I invite you to come to Ajan Kloss to train with me and many others. The galaxy needs us. The Jedi have been guardians of peace for thousands of years. It is time that that peace is brought back in the form of the Jedi. You are not alone. May the force be with you."
"It's done!" Poe cheered.
"Do you think anyone will hear it?" Finn asked.
"I'm not sure, but I suppose there's only one way to find out." Rey replied. And so, the three of them sat, finally feeling accomplished. Knowing that the reign of the Final Order was over and that they had at least tried to reach force-sensitive people all across the galaxy. As the sun set on the beautiful moon of Ajan Kloss, they sat. Waiting. Hoping that their message was heard. Somewhere.
