My father woke me up early in the morning pulling me out of bed falling on my back hitting the floor. " Koi it's time for you to get to work to open the shop!" I'd quickly start running from the floor to my closet getting my leather clothes and putting on my shoes. When I got ready my dad waiting on the outside smiling with a tear coming from his eye with mom.
They would look straight at me and both hug me, "We're so proud of you. We can't wait to see what happens next."
"Thanks mom and dad." I felt like I was going to cry from their kindness.
"Well it's time for you to get going now." Dad would say wiping his tears from his eyes. He would pat my back, "I'll see you later kiddo."
I would start my journey to the shop with dad and mom waving me goodbye. I already miss them even though I know I'll be back later.
Walking through town I was amazed by the liveliness of everyone and the many shops beside the roads. I would find my shop, and I would put the key in the lock taking a deep breath twisting the lock and opening the door. The walls would lay many weapons ranging from knives to war hammers. I couldn't help but let out a little squeal at the excitement of seeing these grand weapons.I went to the back room and it laid a forge and anvil with many tools on the walls. There was also a man that I nearly missed admiring the tools hammering a sword. I would walk up to him and look at him hitting the sword it was if he didn't even see me. He finally said something after hammering the sword," So you're Jack's kid, nice to meet cha'" He would spin around in his chair making me jump. He was an orc with large tusks in the front of his mouth. He would laugh at me, "Sorry forgot you weren't around orcs for most your life, I really should've visited more."
"Oh no, it's okay I just wasn't expecting you to turn around like that." I would rub the back of my head chuckling.
"Well, my name is Hoff. Nice to meet ya." He would smile with even more of his tusk showing reaching his hand out to shake mine.
"My name is Koi, nice to meet you too." I would shake his hand with my already huge smile becoming wider.
A bell would ring, "Well someone's here you better get going," he would turn back around hammering the sword.
I walked back into the front behind the counter, "Hello how may I help you?" It was a human girl in full armor with a red cape.
"You're too young to help me." She would say this as she kept looking endlessly. I would just watch and wait. I heard her say, "Ugh no one is here that knows what they're doing."
"Um, ma'am I'm willing to help you out all you have to do is ask." She would look like she was about to kill me and sigh.
"Look I'm assuming you're new here, so can I get your boss?" She was starting to get on my nerves by insulting my intelligence.
"Fine, I'll get the boss he's under here." I would duck under the counter and come back up. "What can I help you with?"
Her face was starting to get red with anger, "Whatever since you don't want to get your boss, I'll take my leave I hope you can find another job." Her cape would twirl as she stomped her way out of the shop like an angry elephant.
I waited behind the desk still admiring the weapons until it got to the point where I took them out of their cases feeling the blades. As I was doing this an elf man a good bit taller than me put his bow on the table.
"I would like some arrows for my bow." I would look at the bow admiring it.
"Would you mind if I touched your bow?" I would ask excited just by the thought of how it was made.
"No, I do not mind." I would pick up the bow and look at the carvings of the bow it had tigers and bears carved all around in the bow's wood. I was amazed by the craftsmanship.
"So, what kind of arrows are you wanting, for what purpose?" I would ask still admiring the bow.
"I am an adventurer and I would like something I could pierce a demon boar." He would say kind of freaked out.
I've heard of demon boar they sure are nasty creatures usually coming in packs. They usually have fire demon boars around here, but there are many different variants. The meat of each also tastes different. They are usually in an environment that supports their element. The horns are also resistant to their own element making them incredible for hunting fire beasts. There is such thing as a three-element boar, but they are very rare. He wants something that can pierce such a creature so it'll need to be heat resistant, I should ask if he has any Fire Tusks. They can be forged like metal if it gets hot enough.
"Do you have any Fire Tusk?"
"I do have some, but I was planning on selling it to the adventurer's guild." He would say reluctantly.
"How much would the guild buy all of it from you?" I would probably need some in the long run.
"Well the average price per each is five silver. I have ten so around 50 silver."
"I see, well I can do 20 arrows made of the horn and I'll throw in 10 extra iron arrows. That's well over 50 silver worth."
He paused before answering, "I guess I see no issue." He said this as he was putting the horns on the table. The horns would have a crimson color with the light reflecting off of it from the windows.
"Great, please come by next week and we will have them ready."
I guess I didn't get many customers only the elf and that crazy lady came here. I guess I should work on making the tusks into arrow tips. The thing is though I wasn't quite sure how to forge them into an actual arrow tip. Since they are heat resistant forging them normally into the forge that we have now isn't going to work at all. I need a fire beast hot enough to be able to forge the tusk.
I thought about it for a while and checked the money that dad left me incase business was slow. I had 2 gold coins that might be enough to get a low ranked fire beast. I would go back into the backroom and tell Hoff I'm closing.
"Okay, I'll just finish this up right here and be on my way and lock down shop. Cya." I would walk out of the store and look for a beast shop.
Walking around I saw a shop with large eggs in it. I would walk inside to see eggs all around the walls. I saw a demi-human wolf woman with golden hair and ears. She would look at me and smile, "Hello! Who would you like to adopt?" I was surprised when she yelled it made me jump.
"Oh, I'm um, looking for a fire beast around mid-tier." I wasn't able to look at her because my eyes kept trying to avoid looking at her directly.
"Ooo~ a fire beast they really are beautiful creatures." She would say with stars sparkling in her eyes. "Well you see we don't know what these eggs are it's really just luck, we only know the type that it might be."
"Well how much for an egg?" I would ask getting ready to pay everything I have.
"A gold piece." She would say with a smile.
I was surprised about the low price of the beast. "Oh, okay." I'd hand her the gold piece looking away.
"Okay, great now pick an egg." She would point in one section.
There were small eggs and huge eggs, I probably want medium sized beast. I would pick a yellow and red striped egg. It seemed like the beast for me. I waved to the lady good bye and she waved back, "Please come again!" I would nod and walk home.At home mom and dad were freaking out. " Koi Why are you so late?!" It was almost as if they thought I died or something. I swear my parents are too nice to me thank god I already went through the "hate my parents phase" in my last life. These parents are too nice for me to hate them. I will make them proud and make weapons for the best adventurers one day.
I was tired and needed to be prepared for the next day of work. I put the egg in a basket with a blanket in it and then went to bed sleeping for the night. I could barely wait until tomorrow.
