C h a p t e r 1

3rd person POV

Exhaustion was all Adeline felt as she and Alessi sat waiting in the police station. Their mother had just passed away due to a drug overdose.

Her limp body was found in the bathroom with a needle loosely hanging in her arm.

When police arrived, they went through interrogation and now sat in a large waiting area.

Their things were placed neatly in the corner of the couch they were on.

Adeline had her head resting on her brother's shoulder while she played with his small fingers. Her teddy bear peanut was stuffed into her arms safely.

Suddenly there was a gentle knock on the door, and in came a woman in a suit. They're heads to snapped up from the sudden noise.

"Hello, little ones, my name is Laura. I will be your social worker"  she stated in a calm and sophisticated tone.

The twins however did not reply considering the situation was very overwhelming for them.

"Sorry to keep you waiting for so long but during that time we were looking for a family." She said with mock sympathy and almost unapologetically.

All she got was a small acknowledging nod from Alessi seeing as Adeline went back to playing with his fingers.

" So in short you two will be in the custody of your 6 older brothers and Father . He has agreed to take care of you" she finished

" What" Alessi questioned for the first time.

"Your living with your brothers and father " she confirmed once again

The two were in shock. Previously they're mother had stated they're father left and had wanted nothing to do with them.

Alessi cautiously nodded

"He and your mother are divorced. They spilt up before you were born and your father got custody of you brothers" she explained.

"I will be taking you to the airport to board your family's private jet. From there you will be met by your father and possibly your brothers." She notified them

"Thank you," Alessi whispered before standing up while holding Adeline's hand as she got up while making sure to pick up Peanut.

Rosio picked up the suitcase holding their belongings and led them outside to a navy blue Toyota.

They both climbed into the backseat as  she put the small suitcases into the trunk.

The drive to the airport was around 40 minutes, and no one had spoken a word.

They looked at the plane in fascination as neither of the two had been on one before.

Climbing up the stairs was slow because they both were just toddlers, but they made it.

Once they sat down, Adeline immediately laid her head on Alessi's shoulder.

The plane ride was around 6 hours to get to New York from California so, they both decided to take a nap.

The Day before at the Moretti House

Romero had just received a call from the police station informing him on his ex-wife.

When the boys' father divorced their mother he changed. He became more focused on his role as head of the Italian mafia. He used his power to corrupt a portion of the police force and gain classified information.

Lorenzo will be the one to inherit the mafia so he's been working in the field alongside his father.

Lorenzo was like a stone faced soldier. He's definitely seen some things but underneath it all is a caring and hard working older brother seeking his father's approval and doing his best for his siblings

Putting his finger print into the passcode slot he opened the gates and drove down the long pathway.

Stepping out of the car he handing his keys to the butler at the door and walked inside.

He had previously texted his all children to meet him in his office to discuss some important matters.

With heavy footsteps to signal his arrival he walked down the hallway to his office.

Inside were his 6 sons loitering around in the room.

"Hello" he greeted as he sat at his desk

"What's this about" Harley the second oldest asked.

Harley had always been caring. When their mother left he became a mother hen. He made sure all of his younger siblings wouldn't be affected by the loss and tried his best to fill her roll to the best of his abilities

" I have received word on your mother from the police" he started

"What happened" Elijah the third anxiously asked

Elijah was more of a typical college student. He spends most of his time with his nose in a book or studying for an exam..a month in advance.

"She was found dead in her home from overdosing" he grimly announced

The room went silent. The difficult news of their mothers death weighed heavily on their hearts. Gripping without mercy.

"That isn't all" he continued "We now know why she left"

"Of course, to get high and die" Valentino angrily stated

Valentino aka tino took his mother's absence in a different way than others. He smoked and turned to violence. His mother left when he was just beginning puberty at 13 so he never really had a kind hearted mother to teach him. Of course he had Harley and his twin.

Valerio aka rio was more level headed. Having grown up the angry and brooding Valentino he had always had a knack for calming people down and lightning up a situation. He was a mediator of sorts

"No... She was pregnant" Romero finally announced

Again the room went silent. It's inhabitants extremely shocked.

"What" Angelo breathily asked

Angelo in this house of chaos seemed to be a breath of relief. Just like his name he was definitely an angel. He was kind hearted and understanding but definitely had a hidden sass underneath his charming smile.

"She has two four year old twins. Adeline and Alessi. Tomorrow we will be picking them up from our private jet."

"Omg! I'm not gonna be the youngest anymore" Luca excitedly stated after recovering from the shock.

Luca the former youngest and certainly the craziest child. He was always a hyper child and could talk anyone's ear off. Make no mistake although he seemed to be carefree he was very observant.

" You'll always be our baby" Giovanni teased causing Luca to give him a look of disgust

The rest of them had an amused smile at the altercation

"All of you need to be ready at 6am because their flight arrives at 7am."

After everyone left the office, Enzo proceded to update him on any changes in the mafia then excused himself to complete some paperwork.
