Chapter Six

It was still odd for Ethan to wake up with someone beside him, he still wasn't used to Diamond's presence but he admired her sleeping physic nonetheless, she was something out of a movie, he believed. The softness of her expression nearly melted his heart out of his chest as he stared at her, watching the soft rising and gentle parting of her lips as she softly snored. He adored this stranger before him. 

Diamond wiggled lower into the comforter and Ethan smiled as he watched her cuddle closer in her sleep, he liked the thought that she wanted to be near him, he could smell the faint scent of his body wash on her and it struck a fire deep in him... she smelled just like him. His possessive demeanor took him by surprise, he wasn't used to having such a possessive sight on anything that belonged to him, but her. He knew that Diamond belonged to him and that this was meant to be, he wanted to this to be forever.

"Diamond..." He softly whispered, moving closer to her face as her left eye slowly peeked at him before closing once more. "Wake up."

"No." She softly whispered in a groggy tone, making him chuckle lightly.

"I thought maybe you'd like to go to the carnival now that it's open." Ethan spoke up, making both of Diamond's eyes open and look at him eagerly.

"Today?" She asked, rising into a sitting position and stretching quickly. "Yes! Do they have funnel cakes? Do you eat snow cones? Get up and get ready! Let's go! What time is?"

Ethan couldn't do anything but stare and smile at her, finding all her questions and comments laughable and much more admiring, she was very admirable and very lovable. He rose from the bed, having slipped away while Diamond was still asleep to ready himself for the day, he was dressed in a pair of black shorts and a white top, almost in a formal manner. 

Diamond quickly showered and dressed into a green-and-white checkered sundress that was knee-length, it managed to clutch all the right areas in Ethan's eyes. He didn't hesitate to stare as she checked herself in the mirror before turning to face him, smiling because she was eager to take the trip. However, there was one thing he had to do before she could step out of the house, the thick metal necklace beeped in unison of the hourly-system check. 

"Don't get close to the door yet," Ethan reminded her as he walked to his panel to change the setting, "I have to change the distance."

"When can I take this stupid thing off?" Diamond asked, lightly clocking her head in a pleading manner. "You don't trust me yet?"

"I do..." Ethan trailed shyly but part of him knew it was a lie, what has she proved?

He smiled as her metal necklace beeped in recognition before he nodded to the door, Diamond lightly smiled but it was apparent that something was on her mind Ethan allowed Diamond to exit the door first, holding it like the gentleman he is as he innocently stared at her, pausing to allow his eyes to take in her backside as she passed him with a bounce in her step. She was meant for him, Ethan truly believed. 

He walked to her side of the car and held the door as she climbed into his jeep and he quickly circled to get inside the driver side with a half-hearted smile. Diamond returned it and watched as he put started the jeep, watching closely as he put the car into reverse, she quickly averted her eyes when she Ethan staring to turn toward her.

"I trust you." Ethan told her, gulping nervously as he stared into her eyes and she openly stared back.

"Okay." Diamond replied, nodding slowly but even Ethan could tell it wasn't from the heart. 

Ethan fell silent, reversing the jeep from the parking space of his bungalow that now belonged to him and his wife, the only thing Ethan could think about was winning Diamond over, as he was already deeply attached to her. He was stuck in a hard place, lost with his emotions because he wanted to be open with her but deep down, he knew she was just a stranger that wanted out.
