2 Hours and 37 Minutes

Chapter 15

        I finished the little tale of my little brother. Cass was looking at me with big round eyes like she couldn’t believe I had it in me to speak with such gusto about my sibling. She talked about Jack with such love in her voice, and I hope that my voice portrayed love towards Lee because even though he can be rather annoying at times I love the little rat.

            “That was really sweet,” she finally spoke after a few moments.

            “Well at least you didn’t laugh,” I chuckled.

            “Why would I laugh? I can tell by the look on your face how much you care about him,” she admonished. I looked at her. Really looked at her. After being in this elevator for I’m not sure how long, her wavy hair was starting frizz, and her mascara was slightly smudged. And was still the most beautiful creature I had ever laid my eyes on.

            “Well you can meet Lee when I meet Jack?” I ventured nervously. I hope I’m not overstepping my bounds in assuming she wants to meet Lee, and hell assuming that she wouldn’t mind me meeting Jack.

            “You my friend have a deal,” she smiled and stuck out her hand for me to shake on the deal. I accepted her offered hand and very much enjoyed the feel of her soft skin against mine. Returning her smile, I looked into her eyes and started to lean towards her. Her eyes widened slightly as her smile dropped into an “o”. I waited to see if she was going to tell me to stop or pull away. She didn’t.

            It was then that I realized that her hand was still tightly grasped in mine. I gently pulled her towards me. Her hand released mine and went around my neck while the other went to my chest. My hands instinctively went around her waist, but they didn’t dare wander. Slowly. Excruciatingly slowly my lips inched closer and closer to hers. When they were just a breath away, she surprised me by closing the distance.
