Ethan
Emma and I had the weekend to ourselves. My mom was glad to babysit Aria for the weekend.
I was happy to have some alone time with Emma for two days.
You see, occasionally Aria would spend the night at either my mom's, Emma's dad's, or at Cameron's house.
Technically that's alone time for Emma and I, but we usually just tried to catch up on some shuteye.
But now we had the weekend to ourselves. I was happy to be spending time alone with my fiancée.
I took Emma out to dinner at our favorite pizza place, and I think we were both just relieved to be spending alone time outside of our house.
Even in the cold November weather, we walked around the block a few times. Walking hand in mittened hand, I felt really happy. Emma was in a really happy mood, and that made me happy.
I love it when she's happy.
We drove around for a while too. Luckily it was early enough in November that it hadn't snowed at all yet, so I might've sped down the highways a little too fast.
Fleetwood Mac blasting, and Emma's hand in mine. We were just having fun. It felt like we were teenagers.
The night came to a slow, Emma and I making hot chocolate and lighting a fire in the fireplace at home.
"You know," I said, taking a sip of my hot chocolate. "I really wish you would've told me you liked me back in high school."
Emma blushed, taking a sip of her own hot chocolate. "I was too awkward for you back then."
I chuckled. "No you weren't. I totally would've realized how cute you were. Actually, I did think you were cute a few times that year."
"You did?"
"Of course I did. You were and still are cute. It just took me a little bit longer to see you as Emma and not my sister's best friend."
"How did you not know I liked you? I liked you forever."
I smiled. "I guess I just never thought about it. I just thought you were like that around all senior guys."
"Just you," she said. "It was always you, Ethan."
I set my hot chocolate down on the little side table in the corner, and then I laid my head down on Emma's lap.
"I love you, Emma."
She ruffled my hair with her hand, smiling down at me. "I love you too, hun."
I turned so that I was looking up at her, and she was still smiling. "Look how cute you are," I said. "You're so adorable."
Emma blushed, letting out a little giggle. "Your hair looks great today, babe."
"I actually need a haircut," I said, running my hand through it.
"Either way, you look sexy right now."
I smiled before sitting up, then standing and scooping Emma into my arms, and carrying her to our room. She giggled the whole way down the hallway, until I set her down on our bed, climbing over her.
It had been a few weeks since the doctors cleared her for sexual activity. Since she had Aria, her body needed time to heal. Every mother goes through it.
That didn't stop Emma from using her hands and mouth, but now she was okay for everything.
We've had sex a few times since she's been cleared, but it's kind of difficult to find time since we do have to take care of our baby.
It's mostly been quickies during Aria's nap time, and at night when she's asleep. Or when she's staying the night at one of our families' houses.
Emma and I take advantage of our alone time as much as possible.
Tonight was no different.
The best part is that we had the whole house to ourselves. So, we took advantage of that too.
Emma and I had fun against the dryer in our laundry room. And on the kitchen table. And the living room floor. The couch. Our bed.
Lastly, the shower. We needed to clean up, so might as well kill two birds with one stone and have some fun while we could, right?
We ended up laying in bed cuddling and talking nearly all night until I felt Emma go limp against me. She had fallen asleep.
I kissed her forehead and made sure she was warm under the covers before I settled all the way in for the night, holding her tightly in my arms.
She was warm against me, and smelled like her shampoo. I loved it.
I made pancakes and bacon the next morning, and we had a lazy day. It was Saturday, so we had the day to ourselves.
Emma dipped in her orange juice, and then put the cup down. "I miss Aria."
I smiled. "Should we go get her a day early?" I asked.
Emma nodded. "Maybe in a few hours. I need to gain some energy first."
"Need some coffee?"
"Can't. No caffeine, remember?"
"Right. Why don't we just have a lazy day, and we'll see if we have energy to go get her later?"
"Okay." Emma said.
-
"Hi, baby!" Emma said as my mom handed her over. Emma kissed the baby's cheek. "I missed you."
"We had fun," my mom said. "Thanks for letting me have her for a night."
"No problem," I said. "Emma and I needed a night to ourselves."
"Did you two have fun?"
I glanced at Emma, who was already looking back at me.
"We did," I said. "We had a little date night."
"Good. You two deserve it."
Emma smiled. "Thanks again for taking Aria."
"It's not problem. I love having her over. We had a lot of fun, didn't we?"
Aria cooed at my mom, a big smile crossing her little face.
"Well, we should probably get going," I said.
"Alright. Call if you need anything. I love you guys."
"We love you too, Mom," I said.
My mom kissed Aria on the cheek for a goodbye, and then Emma and I waved on our way out.
We went home and Aria ate, then we all snuggled up on the couch. I was happy that Emma and I got some alone time in, but I was also happy to have Aria home again.
She's the most precious thing, and I love her so much. The best part is that she's the result of Emma's and my love.
Sometimes it astonishes me to think about it. Emma and I really created a life together.
Nothing is better than this.
