FOREVER & A DAY [ OFFGUN ]

CHAPTER FIVE 💕

Gun was nervous.

He had decided to go back to his home in Bangkok and continue with his YouTube channel. But he hadn't told his parents yet.

Gun knew that his parents would be supportive of him as they always have been but he didn't know what would happen to Nam.

His parents alone won't be able to take care of Nam. They were old now,  getting tired from just climbing stairs.  And there was no way they would be able to feed Nam. She was a very picky eater.

As Gun paced around the room, he kept thinking about ways they could solve this matter. He wanted to be with Nam but he also wanted to fulfill Pim's last wish to Gun.

Gun heard a soft click from the front door. His parents were back from the park.

Gun heard voices from the living room, talking loudly and happily. It sounded like there were more people other than his parents. His parents probably invited a few friends.

Gun tried to sneak a peek inside the living room but the old man, who Gun guessed was the guest caught Gun peeking.

"You must be Gun. " The man stood up from the sofa he was sitting on and extended his hand towards Gun.

Gun shyly nodded and shook the man's hand, not being able to look at the man after being caught.

" This is Mr. Ohm, a friend of your father and a very renowned lawyer." Gun's mother told Gun, smiling at her son.

" You don't have to be so polite like your mother is. You can call me Uncle Ohm." Ohm said while he smiled brightly at Gun as if he knew something that Gun didn't know.

Gun just smiled back and nodded. He wasn't good at talking to his father's friends. He just couldn't understand if they were being sarcastic or just being nice.

" Me and your mother were thinking about this for a while and we think you should go back to Bangkok. We don't want to keep you from your career and dreams." Gun's father said softly, a small smile on his face.

" But dad, Nam -" 

" You don't have to worry about her." This time, Ohm spoke. " Your parents know that you love Nam and won't be able to leave her. So, they came to me and I've already completed almost all the documentation. You can sign the papers and it'll be done."

" Sign papers for what?" Gun asked, not understanding what was going on.

Ohm replied calmly, " The papers for completing the process of adoption of Nam as your daughter."

( READ!! I'm not really sure about the whole legal side of adopting a child. But I'm pretty sure that a single adult male without a proper and stable job cannot adopt a girl child of 8 months of age without going to the court and just by signing papers. But for the context of the story, let's just pretend that it's legal.)

" WHAT?"Gun was shocked. His eyes were wide open in disbelief.

 He was gonna adopt Nam? He was gonna become Nam's father? He was gonna raise Nam? Was he ready for this ? Would Pim be happy? What were his parents thinking, getting a lawyer and thinking that he was ready to adopt his niece?

As a  million questions flooded his mind, one question stuck out.

In a low voice, Gun asked, " I can be Nam's dad?"

  Gun's father smiled softly. " I know you are confused and have a lot of questions. But Gun, this is the best way for Nam to have a good future. In the city, she'll get good education, facilities and most importantly, she'll get father-like love."

Gun nodded, too overwhelmed to say anything. He understood why his parents had taken this decision. It was all for Nam.

" It's not like we don't want to raise Nam. We love her but age is a big factor here. But still if you don't want this, you can still decline the adoption. We won't force you."

Even though Gun's mother said that Gun can say no, It wasn't like he could. He had to bear the responsibility as Nam's father and raise her with love.

" Fine, I'll do it." Gun said after thinking for a while, with a confident voice.

"Gun, you can still say no. " Ohm continued, concern evident in his eyes.     

" No, I've made my decision." Gun took a deep breath. " I'm gonna adopt Nam."

Off was bored.

After weeks of continuous work, Off was finally free for the weekend. He didn't have any of those 'casual' brunches with investors nor did he have any extra work for him to do over the weekend.

 He was free but Off being Off had automatically declined all invites for going out with his friends because he was so used to saying no to his friends. But now, he was regretting all his life decisions.

After sulking for hours, Off finally picked up his phone to call the only person he could think of.

" Hey, Tay !" Off greeted as soon as the other person picked up.

" To what do I owe this call? ' Tay asked sarcastically.

Off with fake shock, replied, " Oh, now i can't even call my best friend without getting attacked with sarcasm?"

" Best friend, my ass! When was the last time you even called me, Mr. Jumpol?" 

" Uff! Sorry naa. Don't be mad. I'm coming over to your house to hang out now. " Off said in the sweetest voice he could use.

" Sorry, I have a date. Find someone else to bother." Tay replied nonchalantly.

Off was taken aback. " Date? Oii, haven't you heard of the saying ' Bros before hoes' ? "

" Off, don't call my boyfriend a hoe. "

" BOYFRIEND?" Off shouted at the phone.

" Hey, don't scream, you dumb ass. " Tay scolded in annoyance. " And yes, I am dating someone seriously. For a long time, actually."

" What- But you never told me." 

" You never asked."

" That's a pretty shitty answer. So where are you right now ?" Off asked, disappointment dripping from his low voice.  

" At my house. We are gonna go on a long drive, then watch a movie at my place and cuddle each other till we fall asleep." Tay answered, dreamily. It was obvious from his voice that he really liked his boyfriend.

" Woah! That's so sappy! But I'm so jealous. I want to be in a relationship too!" Off whined.

" What happened to your beloved Mild?" Tay asked, trying to sound serious.

" Don't tease me, asshole. " Off scolded, knowing Tay was probably trying to hold his laugh in.

" Ah New, You are here early!" Tay sounded delighted and excited like a school girl.

Off heard a voice say something and then, Tay quickly said," I'll call you back later. My boyfriend is here." And then, he hung up.

Disappointed, Off slumped back in his couch. 

Everyone around him was falling in love, except him.

So that was the fifth chapter! Can you all guess what's gonna happen in the next chapter? YES, more juicy stuff is gonna happen. I hope you don't mind the little TayNew I sprinkled in. They are just too  cute.
