~New York City~

We continued down the halls, him showing me where to go whilst I inspect the school. It's nice here, very chic compared to the hell hole that mother used to send me to. There we had a rank mustard yellow blazer and skirt with a yellow blouse and brown and mustard tie. Yummy. Then the school itself was grotty with peeling paint and cracks everywhere. The rooms followed the same theme as the uniform too so there was no refuge from mustard yellow. It's supposed to sort out 'troubled children', that's why mother sent me there. It was a fixed term boarding school but they were slack on making sure we stayed in so we went out partying. Then, in the holidays I would go home and party at formal events (much to mothers annoyance) mainly getting drunk at the same time! Ah, I miss London when I think of it like that... It was my home. I'll adjust to the upper east side, it's not too different to where all the partying happened back home!
I hadn't realised that a tear had slipped down my cheek as I thought of home. Wiping it away before Dan saw, I smiled. No more thinking about home, this is my home for now and I have to embrace that!

"And this, is your first class. I'm in the year above so we won't share any but if you need any help, ask me if you see me! Actually, do you have a phone? I could give you my number incase you need me?" Dan asked me kindly. I smirked though, and took the opportunity to tease him a bit.

"Is that your way of getting a girls number Dan? You should really smoothen out your technique mate!" I laughed slightly then continued. "Back to the point, I do have a mobile and I would gladly take your number. I know literally nobody here!" He laughed and gave me his number. I guess I've made a friend!

"Bye Dan, thanks for the help!" I called as he walked off. He replied with a salute and smirk before leaving my sight.
I guess this is do or die, I thought as I walked through the classroom door. As predicted, everyone stared at me. Everyone. Even the teacher looked confused. Right then, time to explain myself!

"Hi, my name is Eleanor, I'm new here? I have been showed around the school site and that is why I am late. Where do you want me to sit?" I tried to be as confided as possible but my voice wavered in a few places due to nerves. The teachers eyebrows furrowed. He then looked at the register and smiled.

"Well, it's nice of you to join us! Take a seat over there, I will be over in a minute to make up for what you have missed. Have you studied this book before? I believe it is part of the English curriculum?" He held up The Great Gatsby and I smiled. This was no doubt one of my favourite books!

"Yes sir, I have read this book before. Thank you." I found my seat and placed my bag under the chair. People were still looking at me but it wasn't the confused stare from before, it was accusing. What had I done wrong already?

'Spotted, newbie is giving B a run for her money. No one has made an entrance like this since S and B arrived. You know you love me! xoxo Gossip Girl'. The message arrived at break, when I was sat alone on some steps. I felt a presence near me but didn't register it until they sat down.

"Oh, hey Dan! I guess you found me." I smiled at him and he half smiled back. I wonder what was wrong with him?

"Look, I've been talking to my girlfriend..." Crap! He's got a girlfriend? Totally didn't mention that! "And she says that you're welcome to hang with us until you make new friends. It's a great idea, but be warned. Her best friend is a bit of a bitch. Correction, she is the definition of bitch! So just don't rile her up or anything, I can't do with a fight on your first day!" He finished his talking and smiled. I stood up excitedly, and grinned. To him, I must've looked like a fool but I was happy! This could be my ticket to friends! I pulled him up and started to walk in a random direction.

"Where are you going? I can tell you that I'm going this way, if you are planning on joining me?" With a laugh he walked in the opposite direction to me. I did a quick jog to catch up with him (very hard in these heels) and walked beside him. His girlfriends friend must be bad if he's in with her and called her a bitch. Maybe she'll like me? Who knows! One thing I do know is not to mess this up. I have one shot to popularity and if I blow it, my life will become social hell. That won't happen. I won't let that happen. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

Hello, hoping that you are loving this book as much as I am loving writing it. It's been busy at school lately and I have a lot of stuff on so updates may take a few days. I'd like to point out that my chapters are unedited so there are probably grammatical mistakes throughout! I will try and fix them as soon as possible! Aiming to get a few new twists into the plot to make this more interesting for you lot!
