Chapter 10 : Get My Girl

                     

Sam's POV

Two weeks since I took Sam to Griffith Park to watch the sunrise and we're getting closer ever since. I think she's beginning to accept my presence, and that's all I need to make this work. We're taking the baby step and I can't wait until I have her wrapped around my hands.

But there's something get in our way, her secret. I know she has some secret about her past and to be honest I was very close to hire a private detective to find out about her past. But then I realize that trust in the basic foundation for a good relationship and I don't want to risk all my hard work to get her just to know her deepest and darkest secret. If she likes me as much as I like her, she'll tell me.

As I'm struggling with my relationship problem and Sam's myterious past, my buddy Kurt is getting messier each day. He lost his focus, his charm ( not like he has it from the beginning), and his eyes look dull and empty and it all caused by one person and one person only, Variana. It's his fault too for agreeing with my stupid bet. Yes it was a stupid bet and Kurt was stupid enough to say yes. Remind ne again why he was a math major from Yale.

As usual, I'm hanging out at his apartment while discussing about our next cover and next collab partner and I notice Kurt zoned out for a couple time and to be honest it bother me. I know he's trying so hard to cover his feeling and I know he missed Variana so much that it must be killing him not hearing her voice or text her for these couple weeks.

So I guess I have to put aside my awesome singer hat and put on my best friend and amazing love doctor hat for my best friend.

“ Just admit you missed her and you can’t live without her. Just broke the bet!” I said. I can see from his eyes that he’s on the verge to break our bet. But it soon dissapear and replace with ego.

“ And let myself lose from you? No way Sam! Not in a million years” he laugh and continue editing his cover with Max.   

This is what you get from making a bet with a man with an ego as huge as the Hollywood sign.

“ For a math major, a chess master and a music genius you are pretty stupid you know that? Let me ask you something. What did you get from this bet?” I asked.

                                                   

He turn his chair so he was facing me but stay silent.

                    

“ I get to humiliate you and a lifetime supply of banana ice cream like you promise.” he smile in victory

“ And what do you lose if you win this bet?” I ask

I know he lost of words.

“ My dear friend Kurt. You’re too naive. What you’ll get from winning this bet is nothing compare to what you’ll lose even if you won. Sure you get all ice cream you want and you can freely tease me all you like. But don’t you realize that you did those thing all the time, with our without this bet you’ll tease me anyway. And the thing that you’ll lose if you keep this bet on is, you’ll lose Variana. So you willing to lose the best thing that ever happen to you for some ice cream? You might not know that she likes you too but I did. You know, if her feeling for you were as strong as yours too her, she’ll hang on to you. But what if she thought that you don’t even care  about her and she thought that her feeling for you is not worth to fight? What if she decided to move on? ”

I know my words are harsh, but I'm just stating the truth. It's not impossible that Variana decide to bury deep her feeling for Kurt and found someone who's not afraid to love her and show it to her.             

I know Kurt know that I was right. And now he probably think how stupid he is for agreeing to this bet.

“ I’m pretty stupid, aren’t I? That’s why I don’t deserve Variana. She’s too good for me. She deserve someone who’s smart enough to fight for her. Not someone who follow a stupid bet and ignore her for some ice cream. But seriously, who doesn’t love ice cream?” I slap the back of his head. Why can't he show his  smartness  when I need him to be smart?

“ Clearly right now you didn’t use your oh so known genius brain. Because if you do, those words won’t slipped out from your mouth. Let me ask you  something. Are you sure you want to keep this stupid bet and lose her?”

he shook his head and I smile. Finally!

“ I know that you are sure with your feelings for her now. I can see that from the way you look at her on that screen. Don’t you want to see those face in person? If I were you, and I have a strong feeling for her, I won’t waste any more second apart from her. Think about it Kurt. Think about her. What would she do when you showed up at her door right now?”

He shrugged. I gave him my widest smile and get up from my comfortable seat.

“ Good. Because you’ll have to find out by yourself! Now get up and leave! ” I pulled him up from his seat and practically  pushed him out from his own studio.

I heard a bag being dropped and clothes thrown everywhere before Kurt zip it all and went out from his room and back to the studio then crushing my bones with a hug. I want to tease him so bad but right now he has a girl to fight for. I'll do it later and I can guarantee I won’t stop teasing him about this hug until his grand grand grandchildren sick of this story.    

“ Thank you Sam” he said

“ You’re welcome. I’m glad my smartness could wake you up from your stupidity! Now go get her!.. i’m going to call Sam.” He slap my hand and quicly got out from his apartment with a huge bang on his door.

I just hope Vari will forgive him and I really hope he has the courage to tell her how he feels about her. I hope Kurt wasn't too late.

" Hey Gorgeous." I said soon as she pick up my call

" Hey Sam, where are you?"

" I see that you miss me so bad. Well don't worry baby girl, the feeling is mutual. I'm  at Kurt's apartment and I'm about to pick you up for our lunch date. Do you want to go? I'm sure you want to." I said.

" I never said I want to go with you." She said

" Well no one will refuse a lunch fate with the amazing and charming Sam Tsui. And I don't take no for answer."

" Way to make a girl like you. Oh well seems like I don't  have a choice, do I?" I shook my head even though she can't see me.

" I'll be at your house in 15 minutes. Be ready and dress nicely to impress me. Bye Sam."

" I can't promise you anything. Bye Sam" with that she hung up the phone and a smile made it way to my face.

I pray with all my heart that Kurt get his girl today because they deserve each other. Also, I hope I could get my girl, today.
