Mihae stood frozen as Hak walked away. Her hand still felt his touch. She was more surprised than pained by his action. He had always been gentle with her with his own way and Mihae tried to blame this sudden change of behaviour to the late hour and long day.
''What are you doing?''
Hak's voice made her look at him
''It is time to go home''
He added sounding tired
Mihae took a few steps on the wet from snow street but she stopped
''Why did you do that?''
She saw Hak's eyebrows knot in confusion
''I was trying to comfort you and you hurt me''
Upon hearing these words his mind went blank. Mihae's voice broke and tears started forming in her silver eyes. Hak was desperately trying to figure out what he did to hurt her when the realisation hit him. When she had raised her arm to wipe his tear off he had grabbed it.
His black eyes sifted from her eyes to her right hand which she was holding near her. He must have put too much strength on her delicate wrist. Hak looked up at Mihae who was now crying and felt worse.
''I did not meant to hurt you Mihae. I am really sorry.''
He said trying to control the pain in his voice.
There was no change in her expression for a few devastating moments but then slowly she raised her hands wiped her tears and gave a little smile. Her forgiveness did not make him feel relieved on the contrary it made him angry and confused. Hak turned around trying to calm himself and they both started walking. None of them spoke on their way back to the apartment. When they entered he was the first to close himself into his bedroom.
Alone with his thoughts, the image of Adam appeared. He had told him to go for it but Hak knew that on the long run Mihae will end up heartbroken. He had decided that is best if he hid his feelings for her but even that is now impossible.
Frustrated he sat on the edge of the bed and placed his head on his hands
''What the hell am I going to do with her?''
Hak hissed on himself and closed his eyes. After an unknown amount of time had passed and after he was sure that Mihae will be asleep, Hak got up, went to the kitchen, grabbed his favourite liqueur from the cabinet and a glass and sat on the black leather sofa drinking in silence until he fell asleep.
Not long after that Mihae woke up with the devastating need to use the bathroom. After she relieved herself and on her way back to her room she noticed him. Her silver eyes feel on the living room sofa spotting Hak spread out and with one leg on the floor.
Silent as a cat she walked his way grabbing a blanket from the armchair and carefully covered him with it. Mihae was about to leave when he let out a sigh making her look at his face. His eyes were closed with his dark eyelashes almost touching his cheeks, his nostrils were moving slowly and his red lips were parted revealing his white straight teeth. A strand of his black hair fell on his relaxed forehead. Hak seemed so peaceful and she could not take her eyes off of him.
''He is so beautiful''
Mihae thought out loud and shrunk in fear of waking him up but he did not. Fearing herself she got up and sat on the armchair with her silver eyes never moving away from his face. Supporting her head with her left hand she lay there and without realising sleep came to meet her leaving her wondering why Hak is so cold sometimes.
He woke up dew to a ray of sun. His first surprise was the blanket. He clearly remembered placing it on the armchair. The second surprise was the figure which was sleeping on the armchair. His third and final surprise was the connection between the two previous surprises.
