NORTHVIEW HIGH IS an academic oasis near busy downtown Los Angeles.
"Our campus has regal brick buildings with dozens of beautiful fountains, statues and sculptures! Cool right?"
The freakishly enthusiastic tour guide rambled while we walked - I walked, she was practically galloping - around the entrance of the school.
"NorthView has so many nice lawns and hundreds of trees! You'll always find me here on sunny afternoons" She went on, cherry red curls bouncing about.
"The campus is only about a square mile, so it has that small-town feel ya know? You'll always be running into friends!"
I nodded along, smiling and feeling a bit bad for not matching her energy but it was too early for squealing, to be honest.
After about an hour, I had seen every nook and cranny known to NorthView. I was absolutely drained after breakfast, the tour and a couple classes.
Again, it was around 2 pm and I was left alone, seeing as my only friend so far was Cecilia, and she had classes.
I wandered around campus wondering what to do with my free time when I finally decided to head over to one of the university's outdoor areas and just sit in the sun a bit and maybe get some work started.
As I reached the garden, I spotted Adam and a few other boys sitting at a bench eating, laughing and talking. He glanced at me and continued his conversation with one curly headed blonde.
I sat down at another small bench farther away and pulled out my airpods and laptop as a poor attempt to motivate myself to start looking over syllabus's and calendars for this semester's classes.
