CHAPTER 9
There are 4 crewmates remaining.
Punz.

THE blond rolled his eyes at the sleep-deprived Antfrost, making his own way to the library. If what he suspected was true, there would need to be more passageways in the mansion than what meets the eye. And what better place to check than the library?

His heels clicked against the hardwood floors, just as he brushed into the medieval styled library. The thousands of books seemed to sneer at him, as if they could smell the fact he didn't read as much as he should have.

Or, it was the way they could sense this was his first time stepping into a library in years.

Either way, the library made an unwelcome ambiance, but he needed to find this passage, whether it existed or not.

He was alone with his mind for the most part. Occasionally the scuttle of mice graced his ears, but besides that, it was him, the shelves, and the books.

Punz was torn. Part of him figured the impostor would have lost already, but maybe it was their lack of organization. They had fallen apart very early on, as members split off only to be killed, or worse at this point- prime suspects.

From the very beginning, Punz didn't know who to suspect. But never in his years did he think it would be down to Tubbo, Dream, Sapnap, and Antfrost as the sabotager.

Tubbo hadn't been too careful at staying confirmed. He had been in the wrong place at the wrong time, stuttered when the situation demanded confidence. But it wasn't Tubbo, if Punz's only reason was he wouldn't do this to his friends. Tubbo didn't have an inkling of malicious intent in a bone of his body.

Dream had been his first suspect, but that had passed quickly. Dream was smart, and calculated, and if he was the impostor, he wouldn't have made a mistake. Dream would have been ethical, and struck with precision. Punz wouldn't have seen his confidence waiver, and Dream wouldn't have let anyone see he was a human in the end. Dream would have made himself a master mind.

As much as the obvious choice was Antfrost, Punz knew it morally wasn't. Antfrost, no offense to the lad, wouldn't have been able to pull a fast one on Dream, nor Punz. He just wasn't all that efficient at the game.

Which left Sapnap. The lovable Texan hadn't been his first choice, in fact it didn't even cross his mind.

He was jolted from his thoughts as a figure appeared at the opposite end of the aisle. His smile was warm and inviting. It was like some sort of hallucination.

"Hey Punz, I thought I would find you here." Sapnap walked over to him, his eyes glinting.

"Sapnap, don't." Punz warned him, glancing side to side. Sapnap blocked any chance of escape, no matter where Punz could dodge, Sapnap could block the doorway.

"Don't what?" Sapnap sounded so sincere. Maybe it was the seeping stress over the course of three days, but he was so inclined to believe him. "What's wrong?"

Punz felt his heart hammer. "Sapnap. Why did you do this? Don't lie, you're..."

Sapnap stepped closer. If he reached out, he could touch Punz. A few inches and he could possibly grab him. "What?"

The blond's teeth dug into his lip. A taste of blood touched his tongue. Was this how it ended? His eyes squeezed closed, and he braced for the inevitable.

"PUNZ!"

Punz blinked open, just as Tubbo and Dream burst into the library, reaching the other's side. "Get away from him, Sapnap. It's over."

Sapnap's nose flared, wordless as always.

Both blonds didn't expect to, but mere moments later they burst into tears, fists balled in each other's shirts, while Tubbo had a smile growing on his face.

"Is it over?"
