"I was dying two minutes ago, do you think I care about your scarf?" Era said
"It was your fault to go down after the guy." Pamir said.
The boy collapsed on the ground as Era opened her mouth and answered. Rick was at his head. Era gripped the dagger she had left on the vault. Pamir was also holding his sword.
"Let go of what you have. You are one against us, you can never win." Pamir was right. Rick was stunned. He dropped the stick in anger after he looked at us both. Pamir looked at the boy's condition, checked his pulse.
"He hit the back of the neck and will remain unconscious for a while." Pamir said. He spoke quickly in an unfamiliar language. According to his face, he hadn't said very good things. "In this case he can't burn this place"
"I can light the goddamn match too." Era said, finding Pamir's reaction stupid.
"Can you get a flame out of your hands? Because a goddamn match can't turn this place to ash." Pamir said. Era looked at the boy, darres.
Pamir started stuffing the coins into Era's purse. It took time for them to escape. There had to be distractions. Era was desperate enough to pray for an earthquake. Everything would be easier if they had made the casino out of straw. A single spark was enough for the straw to burn.
Straw. Barn. Next to the casino was the barn. If they set fire to it ...
"There is a stable next to the casino. It's not too big, but the fire can spread here."
"You can't set the casino on fire." Rick said. Pamir didn't care about him, he paused for a while, as if he was weighing what Era said in his mind. "Okay, get the bag, we're going out."
Era looked at the boy lying on the ground. He had saved Era. "We can't just leave him here." Pamir looked at Era.
"There's a casino full of men upstairs. It's only a matter of time before a few come down."
"Then be quick and set the barn on fire."
"Darres is staying here." He looked around. "I can't go up now." People would ask questions. They would understand that he burned the barn. Era turned to Rick watching them quietly,
"Is there a back door?" Rick shook his head, no. Era did not think he would say it, even if it was. It was unreasonable when Era got here Darres was inside, it should have been the back door.
"Darres was inside when I arrived." Pamir understood what Era meant and started looking around. Era ran her hands over the walls. It was dark inside, so there could be no windows. What about the door? it was worth a try.
She heard Pamir washing things. Then the white light of the moon entered.
"I can't fit here" Era approached the hole. There were ashes on the edge of the hole. Darres burned the wood, making way for himself. The hole was small for Pamir, suitable for Era.
"I will do it." Era said, looking determined. "But the boy will come with us."
"We can't move it." Era looked at the boy and stood at the burly Rick.
"We can't, but he can." Rick's eyes were wide open. Pamir put his hand to his face, the plan must have been plotting.
"Okay, okay, okay." He turned to Rick "Lift Darres"
"I won't." Rick said. He would be stubborn.
Era bowed and entered the hole. She was on the other side now. She paused for a few seconds and waited. She wanted to make sure Pamir wouldn't let the boy go. Pamir's voice came from the other side.
"Rick, I can do this the hard way .." Era headed towards the barn in the dark of night. it had to be fast.
There were six horses in the barn. She should have taken two of them for herself, but Era knew that she could not control the two horses. Five of them quickly untied. A horse was left. Era tied the horse's rope to the rope ahead. He threw the kerosene lamp over the straw. The lamp broke and the straw caught fire. The horses started running. Era could hear people coming out of the casino. The casino was emptied as people gathered in the barn. So Rick, carrying Pamir and darres, could come out.
The people who came to see the fire that illuminated the dark night did not notice the three people moving away quickly.
On the morning of that day, they found Rick with his mouth and hands tied up in a secluded place.
Rick had lost all his fortune overnight.
