I was on the way to hospital from airport. I had been living in U.S ever since that incident took place 9 years ago. I guess I would have not choose to return to Korea soon if chairman wasn't in his death-bed. I packed my stuff in a haste, and caught the flight as soon as I heard about him from his secretory Gong.

I considered myself quite lucky for being transferred to Kang Foundation Orphanage not because it was well facilitated unlike Little Tulip Orphanage but for the most warm-hearted man I ever met. I was indifferent and mostly bullied by other children. Little Tulip Orphanage was somewhat incompetent in taking care of these matters and mostly focused in sending children to foster homes. However, nobody ever wanted to adopt me because of that disorder and one day I was transferred to Kang orphanage because of a little dark secret. Things were same at the beginning. Like always other children didn't want to be friends with me and became an outcast again until I met chairman Kang Young Chul.

"Ajhusshi,(referring older man in Korean) you came again?" I asked. "are you here to adopt someone?"

"no." he replied. "I come here often to meet all the children. I'm the owner of this place. But today I came to meet you.''

"Me? Why?" I became curious.

"I heard you are new here and a special one. So, I came to see you in person."

"so, you came to me because I'm the only bad girl here?"

"Really? Are you a bad girl? Well, I didn't know that. Nobody told me something like this. I came because I heard you are a bright and talented girl."

I stared at him for a moment. Nobody ever told a single good word to me and this ajhussji came suddenly and complimented me. I thought he mistook me someone else.

"look like nobody ever told you something like this." He continued. "Well, not everyone can recognize a real gem."

"ajhussi, are you praising yourself now?"

He laughed. "you indeed a smart kid! Then why do always end up being alone? I sorry that you had to face some bad things in such a young age but here, its not like your previous orphanage. You will live here well. Really!"

"everything is same here! Everyone is scared of me!" I cried.

"no! nobody fears you, dear! Its because you are new here. Nobody knows that you are such a precious kid." Affection was evident in his voice. "Oh dear! I promise you. You will grow diligently; nobody will be ever afraid of you! I'll help you and protect you from now on."

Chairman was indeed a man of words. He truly helped me to grow up well. In fact he became like my best friend. A person who was able to comfort me with his gentle smile despite of knowing about my dark secret.
