Hey, guys!
I've tried not to complain about my personal life on here, but things haven't been easy recently (and thus the awful publishing schedule). That's about all I'll say on the subject--that and one more thing: If anyone makes you feel like you aren't enough, they don't deserve to be in your life. Take care of yourselves, love yourselves, and know that you're good enough to me.
Enjoy this next chapter! I hope to post more chapters more frequently in the future!
Thank you all for your support!

*************
It was quiet as Hank pulled onto the highway. Trubel and Tara were in the backseat, still trying to figure out what to do with each other. Meeting a long lost relative was nothing like in the movies; there was no certainty about how to act, what to say, and despite sharing blood, the person sitting on the other side of the car was still a stranger.
Trubel pulled her gaze away from the road to catch Tara staring at her again with an attentive expression, certainly not one you'd give a stranger. Maybe she felt differently because she was older when they were separated...
Trubel was wondering what she should do. Should she say something? Ugh! The ride home was supposed to be easier!
Before Trubel had to make a decision, the silence was interrupted by the various rings and bells signifying notifications on a phone. And based on the number of them, it sounded like an emergency.
Hank was quick to realize the screaming phone was his own and hastily fished it out of his pocket. He glanced at it briefly, noting that Adalind had called and texted him about 20 times altogether. That didn't look like a good sign.
"What's going on?" Trubel asked anxiously.
Hank passed his phone in Trubel's direction since he couldn't mess with it while he was driving. If it really was an emergency, he shouldn't be taking the time to pull over. "It's Adalind," he said and Trubel took the phone from him.
"Is everything okay?" Tara asked her.
"Not sure," Trubel answered, trying to decode the various messages. There were SO many! "I'm just gonna call her. Trubel succumbed. She dialed the phone, and it only took part of the first ring for Adalind to pick up.
"What's going on?" Adalind asked quickly.
I was about to ask you the same thing, Trubel thought to herself.
"Is Nick okay?" Adalind added before Trubel could answer her question.
Trubel's features contorted into one of confusion. "What? Yeah, or he was a minute ago," she qualified. "Why?"
Adalind sighed with relief before explaining herself. "Monroe told me about you sister." Monroe? How did he know about that already?
What a bunch of gossips, Trubel thought, rolling her eyes. Hank and Tara both noticed the moody behavior and realized there must not be that big of an emergency.
"And we don't know anything about her. So I called Nick to get an update and he didn't answer. And neither did you, or Hank, or Wu. I just got worried," Adalind continued to explain frantically. Trubel thought for a moment before she realized what must have happened.
"We must not have had service," Trubel told her, "But we're all good. Nick and Wu are staying back at the crime scene for a bit, and Hank, Tara-" Would Adalind know her name? "Er, my sister, and I are on our way to the precinct now," she explained.
Another relieved sigh came over the phone.
"Okay, good," Adalind said anxiously, still trying to calm herself down after her panic. She sounded a little out of breath, too, and Trubel wondered how quickly she must have been pacing. "Sorry, after everything that's happened, I just get a little..." Adalind trailed off, at a loss for words for how to describe her feelings. Worry, fear, anxiety--none of it seemed severe enough to even begin to explain the panic of losing everything in one moment. But nothing was lost, yet. She'd be okay.
