After a long and tiring day at the cafe, Jaemi finally had the time to sit down and relax. Cassy, Malissa and Heather had already left the cafe to eat lunch so Jaemi had the whole place to herself. Enjoying the peaceful silence, Jaemi sits down on a chair while munching on a lonely piece of doughnut.
Her boss allows her to take food from the cafe sometimes so it's pretty normal for Jaemi to be eating something from the sample tray. The pin drop silence was just good enough for her as she listened to herself breathe. The flavors of the doughnut bursting in her mouth like a fire cracker as she chewed on the last piece.
After finishing her meal, Jaemi closes her eyes in attempt to enjoy the quietness. She hums to herself, smiling softly. She came to work after a long time. Her boss almost thought that she left the job but when Jaemi turned up in front of the cafe once again, his boss felt a little relieved that he won't lose a great worker.
Taking a deep breath in, Jaemi opens her eyes. The locket dangling from her neck rested beautifully on her chest. She looks at the accessory she's wearing. Tilting her head, she holds it in her hand. This locket holds half of the story of her life, half of her heart, half of her sorrow, half of her everything. Gathering the courage, Jaemi finally opens the locket up but stops immediately when she hears the cafe's bell ringing, indicating that someone has entered.
Jaemi groaned internally. Can't they see the CLOSED sign? She gets up from her seat and walks towards the entrance of the cafe.
"Excuse me, but the cafe is closed right now. Please come a little-"
Jaemi stops mid-sentence when she sees who is standing in front of her. Taehyung. His eyes enlarged the moment he saw Jaemi in the cafe. He didn't know she worked here. Heck, he didn't even know she worked.
"O-oh...uh... Hi." He said, being awkward. It's been a week since Taehyung transferred to their school. Jaemi's friends are great pals with him now. But Jaemi....not so much. They've been a little self conscious around each other since their last encounter:
As they made a right turn, their hands slightly came in contact, making Jaemi jump and Taehyung to put his hands in his pocket.
They both were still embarrassed because of that 'incident' that happened a few days ago. Nonetheless, Jaemi put on a smile and welcomed him.
"Welcome. Uh...we're closed right now but....um.....you can sit down. Do you want something?" Jaemi asked, cleaning a table for him to sit. Taehyung scratched his neck and chuckled nervously.
"I guess water would be fine right now, um thank you." He said, sitting down on the table that Jaemi cleaned for him. She nodded, rushing to the kitchen to fetch a cup of water for him.
Jaemi sighs in releif, taking a cup out from one of the drawers and pouring water into it. Taehyung and Jaemi haven't really been talking to each other much. Mostly because Jaemi tries to ignore people and Taehyung didn't wanna bother her.
Finally, Jaemi walks out of the kitchen with a glass of water in her hand and walks towards where Taehyung is seated. She hands him the glass and in return he mutters a little 'thank you'.
Just as Jaemi's about to head back to the kitchen, Taehyung suddenly grabs her hand, startling both of them.
It's that feeling again.
That electric sensation spreading through her body like an ocean. Jaemi's heartbeat increased at the feeling and a small blush creeped on her face.
I'll move. She thought. Just....now. But she doesn't. She doesn't move a bit. Her mind is telling her to run away but her heart says....stay. Even Taehyung doesn't move, he's too shocked by his actions to even blink. Coming back to their senses, they both pull away from each other. Looking anywhere but at one another, Taehyung and Jaemi stay in silence.
