Her POV

I couldn't even speak, which was rare for me. This was ridiculous.

"You've met? Oh no... Scout don't tell me you're some crazed fan because if you are this really isn't great." Parker spoke.

I'm pretty sure at this point my jaw was on the floor, all words failed me.

171,476 words currently in the English language. How many did I use at this precise moment in time?
None. Fucking nothing.

"I'm not a fan." Was eventually what came into my mouth before my head could stop it. I watched as Harry's face contorted into an upset mess.

"Oh wow. Not only do you keep almost knocking us both over, you don't even like me!" He feigned hurt.

"Oh god!" I smacked my hand on my forehead. "I didn't mean it like that! I'm so sorry! I just mean I don't really keep up with media and the charts! Last I heard you were part of a group." I replied.

I mean sure, I work for a magazine, but when I say I am given the boring jobs no one else wants to do I mean it. I don't actually have any input on anything to do with the magazine.

Basically, I'm the office bitch. The coffee and bagel girl. I make appointments, never attend them. I take messages never phone calls. So really I have no idea.

"It's okay. You're good." Harry laughed.

"Can someone explain to me what on earth is going on?" Parker practically yelled. I looked at him wide eyed, almost as if to say 'shut up, I'm right here, no need to yell.'

"We bumped into each other, literally, last night. She was on her way somewhere and didn't look. By the looks of things I'm not the only thing you've walked into." Harry replied, putting Parker at bay and then referencing to the angry bruise on my cheek.

Oh he's gonna feel so guilty for saying that.

I just kept quiet, as did everyone else. Immediately he sensed something was off.

"What did I do?" He asked, freezing in his spot and looking between the three of us. It was then that we all looked at each other, me wondering who was going to tell him and the guys looking at me for permission to tell him.

"My boyfriend did it." I just said simply. Not making a big deal out of it. He didn't know and it isn't a big deal.

"Ex! Boyfriend, Scout." Parker corrected me.

"Oh damn, I'm so sorry! Now I feel stupid, I really didn't mean to offend-"

"You didn't." I cut him off. It was really okay.

"Did I hear your name was Scout? That's a new one on me." He said, trying to change the subject.

"Yeah my parents were English Professors and found each other for their love for 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' so I ended up with a weird name. I mean that's not even the girls name, it's actually Jean Louise. Not that, that's any better really..." I trailed off, realising I was rambling and for some reason told him something quite personal and close to me without even realising.

I don't speak about my parents. Because I don't like them. They ruined me, I repaired myself and then they came back for round 2. So this time Parker helped me fix myself. And then I met Mason and now I feel back on square one.

But anyway, that's a me problem.

I'm not going to put Parker through that again, even though I know he is probably expecting it. But I honestly couldn't bring myself to even talk to him properly about Mason now. He did so much for me when I had issues with my parents the second time.
