This one is a little short sorry. Let me know if I should do more chapters from Stor's pov. Or if you want me to do POVS for other characters. :) I'm super inconsistent with updating but if I decide to stop writing(highly unlikely) I will let yall know.
The abarifs weren't in the north of the desert. I had thought they'd be there. In fact, they were nowhere in the desert. I had checked. Twice. Flying around aimlessly, I ended up in Falone -the largest town on the west side of Nuala- and met one of my old associates at a bar in the slums.
"What brings you here?" my friend laughed. His cheeks were already rosy from the strong beer he was drinking. "You never visit me. What's new? I hear Mador's nice this time of year. You been? Is this for business? I was taking a week off."
"Nice to see you too, Domio," I chuckled. I had missed this. But it also came with..... disheartening memories. "I was in the area."
"Yeah. Duh. But why?" he went to take another sip of his beer, frowned, tipped it over and sighed. He gestured to the lady at the counter to bring another round. She shook her head and he pouted.
"You haven't changed much," I said. "'Cept of course, I reckon your drinking's gotten way worse."
"Pshhh. Nightmares. Its the only way I sleep in peace. I would get into opium but I hear that's never-ending and I don't get no money. I didn't know what I was getting myself into. None of us did. I worry about Viola, Griffin and Valor. Business has gotten dark, Stor. It'd be enough to make any grown man think crazy things. Drugs. About death. I want to die so badly. Have you ever felt that way?"
"No," I sighed. "I hope I never do. I wouldn't wish it on any of us. I feel terrible for Enialis. The poor kid. He's had it rough."
"He's not a kid Stor. Never was."
"To me, he's always my little brother."
"Well," Domio frowned at his glass as if he could fill it up by willpower alone. "You payin' for the next round?"
He raised his glass and an eyebrow. I rolled my eyes and called the lady over.
"Domio," I asked, I knew he was drunk enough for words and more importantly locations would spill from him as easily as the alcohol did into his mouth. "The reason I'm here is because I need to find someone. Do you have any idea where..."
