Torn fabric litters the forest floor and strained growls echo through the stale air. Malik stares the pale skinned vampire down with a menacing glare. His shiny, golden eyes bore into the pair of bright, ruby eyes glistening with mischief.
Behind him, Aleskei released a pained howl, his beautiful, inky fur marked with faded blood glinting beneath the kaleidoscopic rays of sunlight seeping in through the canopy of trees. Even though the wound wasn't deep, the scarlet coat draping his mate irked him.
Issa wore a malice smirk, the corners of his lips were painted crimson as he stared at Malik, whose teeth were bared into a vicious snarl. Malik dug his paws into the dirt, his golden eyed gaze hardening, as the vampire tilted his head to the side. "I didn't know you were weak, Alessio. Your mother used to brag about you all the time," he taunted.
In Aleskei's head, Alessio whined lowly and the Alpha shot him a glare. Issa threw his head back and released a manic laugh. "Oh, did I defeat the Big Bad Alpha? Well, that was easy."
Before Issa was able to react, Malik lunged forward and sunk his fangs into his porcelain skin. From his lips tumbled a distressed cry. "Go to hell, you stupid wolf," he choked out, as he stumbled away from them.
Messiah shifted quickly, his bones letting out a scream of protest, and eyed the few injuries littering his mate's fur. "I'm sorry," he breathes out. "I didn't try to help you sooner." Noticing the discomfort sketched into Messiah's face, Aleskei leaned forward and licked his face. Messiah laughed breezily at the contact.
Once he slipped on his clothes, he carefully tucked his arms under the black wolf and carried him to the pack house.
Against his better judgment, Aleskei nuzzled into Messiah and inhaled his intoxicating scent of sandalwood and cinnamon. Messiah shivered faintly at his touch. "Don't do that, Aleskei," he warns.
The wolf cocks his head in confusion and feathers of sadness bathe in his eyes, but due to his arrogance and pride, he tries to mask the emotion.
"It's not that, bab- Aleskei. I-I just...." Aleskei offers him a faint smile, as if to say I'm okay.
But in reality, Messiah knew he wasn't okay and his own heart shatters in his chest.

The contrasting colors of paint on his skin was dried and reflected the wispy clouds outside. Pale, hazy blue and snow white. The sky was slapped onto his caramel skin like an image in a museum gallery.
The brush strokes tattooed onto his blank, textured canvas laying flat on his desk were soft and cataclysmic.
Messiah smiled faintly to himself. In his mind flickered chocolate eyes, full of golden flecks, that showcased the undeniable power his wolf held.
The memory of the fractured, almost shattered wholly, boy that fell to his knees weeks before caused a brief wave of anger to wash over him. Even though he hated him, Messiah wasn't able to deny the glimmer of empathy he felt at the pain he experienced. While he saw broken glass, Messiah saw unhealed wounds. The faded scars painting the Alpha's abdomen vexed Messiah.
You hate him, remember? He reminds himself and shook his head to remove the unwanted images from his mind. The orbs of melted chocolate he'd like to bathe in. The scars he'd like to kiss. The skin he'd like to touch. The pain he'd like to soothe. Wait, what?!
Malik burst into a fit of laughter in his head, the vibration mocking him. And even though he couldn't see him, he knew he was grinning.
You seem to be coming around to our mate, huh?The taunting words caused a crimson blush to bloom on his skin. His eyes narrowed into slits at his reaction. But Malik was right. If he hated him, he wouldn't have come to the rescue when his wolf was injured.
As much as Messiah hated to admit, he had feelings for his mate.
You could even love him, Malik whispered.
Messiah brushed aside his wolf's remark because he knew it was a lie. Messiah vowed to himself he wouldn't fall in love and he intended to keep his promise.
Behind half closed eyelids, he can't stop imagining Alessio underneath him, his lips swollen and a pool of subdued, gray sheets around his taut waist. Through the cream-colored curtains, golden beams of sunlight would seep and a kaleidoscope of dark shadows would pelt onto his silky, caramel skin.
Messiah wove his calloused hands through his raven locks that remind Alessio of the beautiful, night sky, devoid of silvery stars. Against his pillow he collapsed. He desperately attempts to rid the sultry images from his mind, but regardless, the stunning boy flashed through his mind.
Outside his window, the blackened sky, full of stars glimmered like a thousand diamonds sewn onto soft velvet draped in an inky color.
"Messiah," a voice breathed out.
The familiar scent wafted through his nostrils and caused his wolf to howl gleefully in his head. Jolting awake, he blinked tiredly at the boy whose eyes were red he presumed from crying.
Messiah visibly stiffened at the thought of his mate in pain. "Yes, Alessio?"
"Aleskei tried to force a shift. He's never done that before."
"Well, why do you assume he tried to force a shift? Only rogue wolves force shifts."
Alessio's gaze diverts to his palms and he basks in silence. "Alessio-"
"You had to save me!" His voice startled Messiah and forced Malik to curl up in the back of his mind. "I'm fucking weak! I'm not a damn Alpha! Messiah, I should've saved you! Not the other way around! I-I thought about cutting my veins, but Aleskei wouldn't let me. He lashed out and tried to force a shift! Can't you see I'm broken?" He chokes out a dry laugh. "Goddess, you must think you have a mistake for a mate."
"Listen to me, bab.... Alessio. You're not a mistake. You're not weak. Your father's an idiot."
Abruptly, Alessio collapsed into Messiah's embrace. He clutched onto the fabric of his shirt. "What's wrong, Alessio?" The panic in his voice was unmistakable.
"I'm not sure."
But when Messiah's slammed with the scent of arousal and the heightened fragrance his mate carries, he knew the answer.
🙊🙊🙊 Any guesses?
