#4 - Zombie

Haechan glanced over at his alarm clock. The time displayed was 5:00 am. He had spent 13 hours lying in bed, waiting until it was time to get ready for school. With the bit of light filtering through the window from the sun about to rise, he could barely make out his room's features.

On his ceiling, he could see a poster. It was directly above his head and was the cover of the book Finn Family Moomintroll. He had several stuffed animals, one of Dooly, one of Totoro, and another Moomin, all sitting on his bed. You see, Haechan loved cute things. He had mugs, stuffed toys, posters, socks, and even slippers, all with cute little characters. However, nobody knew, not even Jeno or Jisung, but Haechan wanted to keep it that way. He didn't want them leaving him after hearing about the childish things he likes. So, whenever someone would come to his house, he'd stuff everything away in his room and lock the door.

Haechan let out a groan as he slowly lifted himself from the bed, feeling very sleep-deprived. He put on his slippers and made his way to the kitchen.

He turned on his coffee machine and while waiting for it to brew, he went to the cupboard and pulled out a Snufkin mug. Setting it on the counter, he grabbed some ice cubes from the freezer. He put a handful of ice in the cup.

Haechan's mouth was sensitive to temperature in the sense that if he tried to eat something hot, it would feel like it was burning his mouth, or if he tried to eat something cold, it would hurt his teeth. So, he liked to put ice in his hot coffee, even if it just left the coffee lukewarm after it melted.

Once the coffee was done, he filled up the rest of the mug. Haechan sipped his coffee while making his way to the window. Every morning, he would get up early to watch the sunrise. It always left him in awe, with all the colors swirling around the sky, which would disappear into a flavorless blue shade later on.

Haechan walked to the bathroom. He turned the shower knob to the hottest setting. While waiting for the water to warm up, he turned to the mirror above the sink and peered at his reflection. Haechan's normally tan skin was paled and dull, and he had prominent dark circles under his eyes. He sighed and turned away from the mirror. He stepped into the shower and let the scalding hot water hit his back.

Haechan let out a sigh of content. Showers were his favorite part of the day. With the hot water and steam wrapping around him, it almost felt like a hug. When taking a shower, Haechan was able to concentrate and sort out his thoughts. Not that he had much to think about, though. Trying to ignore all the negative in his mind, he tried to recall what happened yesterday. He remembered in his homeroom class he had talked to the student behind him for the first time. To be honest, Haechan had never noticed the student before, but when he did, he couldn't help but stare. Haechan smiled to himself as he remembered how flustered the student had been when he asked what he was doing.

After washing his hair, Haechan turned off the shower, grabbed a towel, and dried himself off. He headed back to his bedroom and dressed in his school uniform. He looked at himself again in the mirror and slapped his face a little, hoping it would make him look more alive. When that didn't work, he turned to the bathroom, got some makeup, and attempted to cover his dark circles. He smiled at himself in the mirror. He practiced smiling a few more times, trying to make sure it was believable.

Haechan grabbed his backpack and took his keys, making sure to lock his apartment before heading down the seven flights. He exited the doors of his apartment complex and saw Jeno and Jisung waiting for him. He plastered a smile on his face as he walked towards them. Haechan hoped today was going to be a better day.

[As you can tell, I had a character crisis......the original ship was gonna be jeno and renjun but then i was like ahhh jaemin....so....i switched it to mark & haechan....but now the personalities are all switched and wonky..... soooo....don't mind it please haha]
