You lie all the time

But I can't complain

'Cause I'm just afraid of losing you

So tell me it's okay

That everything is great

'Cause I just hate the fact

That every time you do

You look the other way

"Jaemin-ah!" Renjun stood over the former, trying to wake him up for school. Seeing that he wouldn't wake easily, he climbed on top of the other, sitting on Jaemin's stomach, and proceeded to shake him more aggressively. "Wake up! We're going to be late."

Jaemin opened his eyes, the sun shone through the window, and his vision was unadjusted from sleep. The sunshine streaming over the older's shoulders and hitting his eyes, illuminating Renjun's big smile, left Jaemin speechless. He looked like an angel. And suddenly, last night's events were erased from his mind, and he gazed at Renjun.

"Good morning." Renjun rolled his eyes at Jaemin's cheesy smile and got up from the bed.

"Yeah, whatever, get ready now. We'll be late if you don't hurry." Although Renjun seemed to be unmoved by Jaemin, the fact that Jaemin had acknowledged and smiled at Renjun, without that strange look in his eyes, made him feel bubbly inside. Was Jaemin back to how he used to be?

Renjun walked to the kitchen and began packing their lunches. He quickly threw his own together, and once he finished that, he moved on to Jaemin's. He carefully placed everything strategically, making sure nothing mixed and that it would look nice when he opened it later. He smiled down at his masterpiece and quickly shut the box when Jaemin walked in. Renjun turned towards him and held out the lunch box.

"I made lunch for us." Jaemin looked down at the box with a surprised expression on his face.

"Really? Thank you." He took it and smiled up at him. Renjun felt his heart flutter. Why was Jaemin so nice this morning? He hadn't acted this way in a long time. For a while, it seemed that Jaemin only stuck around for sex, but today it was different. He seemed to actually care. And Renjun felt happy for the first time in a while.

But it didn't last.

They walked to school together and bid farewell as they headed to their separate classes. Renjun didn't learn anything and waited for the bell to ring so that he could see Jaemin's reaction to the lunch he packed. He had spent all morning, after getting up early, to try and make him happy, trying his hardest to cook well. He smiled, imagining being the reason for Jaemin to be happy for once.

The bell rang, and he rushed to the cafeteria, eager to make it in time before Jaemin opened his lunch. He reached the entrance, glanced around quickly, and spotted him. However, Renjun frowned when he saw a boy sitting next to Jaemin. Who was he? He brushed away feelings of jealousy and doubt and decided to ignore the dark feeling in his gut. It was probably nothing; he was perhaps just a friend. Renjun slid down on the bench, directly across from Jaemin, and watched him eagerly. When he didn't make any move to take out his lunch, Renjun pushed.

"Jaemin-ah, are you going to eat lunch?" Renjun pouted a little when he saw the other wasn't paying attention. He was busy staring at the new boy. Renjun pulled out his own lunch box and began eating. Realizing that while this guy was here, he wasn't going to get anything from Jaemin, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

"Who are you?" Renjun asked, a cold tone present in his voice. He glared a little in his gaze.

"I-I'm Jeno?" Jeno responded, but it came out more like a question as he was nervous from the look Renjun was giving him. Jeno felt uncomfortable as he watched the Chinese look him up and down.

"Why are you here?" At this point, Jaemin snapped his head to Renjun. Jaemin seemed upset, which made Renjun also upset.

"Renjun! Don't be rude! I invited him to sit here today."

"Sorry..." Renjun looked at Jeno and noticed he wasn't eating anything. "Are you going to eat?"

Jeno looked down at the empty table in front of him, seeing an absence of food. He had forgotten to buy lunch. He was distracted when Jaemin had asked him to eat with him. "No." Jaemin immediately perked up and went to his backpack. He rustled through it for a few seconds and then pulled out the lunch box that Renjun had made for him. As Jaemin handed it to Jeno, he failed to realize how much it hurt the boy. Renjun had woken up early in the morning, cooked as best as he could, and put the utmost care into packing it, and here was Jaemin giving it away as if it were nothing. It instantly crushed the former's day. Not only that, it crushed him. And Jaemin couldn't care less.

"Here, you can have mine." However, despite being broken by Jaemin's small but powerful action, Renjun tried to push the immense feelings of gloom away. Jaemin didn't understand, he told himself, Jaemin didn't know. How would he know? He wouldn't.

Renjun quickly shoveled a spoonful of his lunch into his mouth. He was fine until he watched Jeno open the box and start to eat. He swallowed hard. "Please excuse me," Renjun sped out of the room. He walked into the bathroom and went into a stall. He pulled down the toilet lid and sat down.

Breathe in and out. In and out. Renjun put a hand over his heart and felt his heart slowly come back to normal. Nothing was wrong, he told himself. It was completely fine that Jaemin gave away the lunch he had worked so hard on. It was nothing, too, that Jaemin couldn't even spare him a glance while Jeno was at the table. Completely normal, right?

No. But Renjun wasn't about to accept that something was wrong. He only wished that Jaemin would look at him a little more, acknowledge him a little more.

It was normal, he told himself. He was just needy.
