When I'm older,
I want to paint my daughter's room yellow.
That way,
She will know she can shine as bright as the sun.
I can sing "you are my sunshine" and Mean it because she will be able to brighten everyone's day.
That way,
She will know she can be as tall and
As strong as a sunflower,
Towering over everyone with pride in anything she does.
When I'm older,
I'll tell my daughter "you're beautiful" before bed.
And I hope that when she is sad,
She will look at the color yellow and Remember just how beautiful she is and
Feel as comforted as getting a hug from me.
