Well, here it is! My first one-shot! This one was requested by @Dashinjason.

I'm feeling rested and ready to work on other stories! These past few days I've been a bit sick and tired, but now I feel fresh and recovered. Anyways, onto the story!

--Y/N POV--
I let out a dejected sigh, watching yet another heartbreaking scene unfold from the window of my room.

Ingrid, my childhood friend, kissing Sylvain on the cheek while a look of pure joy came over her face. I guess I should've felt happy that she found someone, but I couldn't help the burning jealousy that was coursing through my veins.

It goes without saying that I had completely fallen for her, ever since we were kids.

I grumbled and turned away from the sight, collapsing onto my bed, where I could freely and silently relive the joyous memories of my youth.

--Flashback (8 Years Ago)--
I was trudging through the thick, white snow towards my house when I first heard the wails. It sounded like.. a girl crying?

I frowned, my mother's warning about coming home late fading in my mind. I was filled with a sense of urgency- the need to help whoever was out there in cold, dead forest, regardless of who they were and where they were from.

I ran off without another moment's hesitation, making a beeline to the source of the sound.

???: H-Hello? A-Anybody?

The voice was wobbling and wavering, giving off the appearance that the person had been crying a lot.

I bounded into the clearing, finding a young girl around my age curled up in a fetal position on the snowy forest floor. She was shivering uncontrollably.

I slowly crept toward her, attempting and failing not to make a sound.

???: Who are you?

Her gaze lighted upon me, allowing me to finally see her piercing green eyes.

Y/N: What's wrong?

???: I-I'm lost! I thought I was taking a shortcut home, b-but...

I grabbed ahold of her hand reassuringly, making her face go red with embarrassment. "There's no need to worry. I'll help you!"

???: Thank you...

I took off the coat I was wearing, and passed it to her. She pushed it away, shaking her head vigorously.

Ingrid: You don't have to, I can take care of myself.

At finding someone who could take her home, it seemed that she had gained some face. I didn't mind. Everybody was proud in some way, even if they didn't show it.

In that moment, I realized that this was the start of something between me and her. I felt this strong connection, even though I had just met her.

Y/N: What's your name?

Ingrid: Ingrid...

Y/N: Mine's Y/N.

Ingrid, eh? That name sounded mighty familiar... But I couldn't place it. I kicked a rock before looking up to find her piercing gaze on me. I couldn't help but shiver. She had a way of looking right through me... as almost as if she was staring into my soul.

I felt undressed and naked before her. All this did was send another burning blush to my cheeks.

Ingrid: Are you sick? Your face is red...

Y/N: Fine! I-I'm fine! Just hot! And anyways, look, here's the end of the forest!

Her eyes followed my stare, and she let out an excited gasp when she saw the forest's edge. The moment she ran up ahead, I emitted a relieved sigh. That was a close one..
