'Sometimes we meet in places where we won't expect it.'
"Ugh, great!", I scoff when I hear a thunder drum above me. The clouds turn black. A moment later the rain bursts out of the sky. As I walk through the street, pedestrians walk fast to find a place to hide. Taxi's are being waved at. People walk faster, trying to get home soon. I feel my hair dripping wet, my coat and skinny jeans soaked. This is going to be a fun day, not! Ugh! I should have never agreed to lend my car to my sister Amy. She's on a weekend trip with her so called boyfriend Jay. Something was wrong with his car, she told me, it's at the shop for a couple of days and she insisted me to lend her my car. After some doubting, I said yes, but I wasn't happy about it. And... what kind of boyfriend are you when you don't have a car in order for a weekend trip with your girlfriend? He knew about this long before he went on this trip with my sister. But Amy is so... blind, I would say, and doesn't see what kind of tool he is... I deal with this later. My priority is to get home as soon as possible. My clothes are starting to get soaking wet and the rain keeps falling out of the dark sky. I keep walking. My pace is fast. I wish I was in my bathtub right now, lavender scent filling my nostrils. I can't wait to get home soon.
I walk up to the corner of the street, where the bus stop is. I hope the bus will be there soon... I look at my watch, 3:26 PM. If I'm correct I have 5 minutes... I sigh. I walk up to the bus stop. Two others stand already waiting for the bus to come. They are both soaking wet, as am I. Although I feel getting wetter by the minute. A man in his forties smiles at me when he notices me. A lady in her thirties looks up when she sees me and concentrates on her phone screen again. Being there out in the open, there is no roof or anything to find shelter. Great! Just Great!
I look at my watch again, 3:33 PM. Come on, come on! Where is this bus at? It should be here already. Damn it! Ugh! A couple of minutes later the woman, who was so busy with her phone, looks up to us both. "It looks like this bus isn't coming anymore."
"Sorry Miss, did I hear that correctly?", the man in his forties asks her.
"Yes, look", she shows us her phone with the information she found on the internet.
We both look at her wet phone screen. "Ugh great!", I say. "This is getting better and better." I tell them.
"Taxi it is then", the man says and leaves us quickly. I don't have money for a cab. If I didn't buy the pencil skirt for my work, I would have some extra cash, but I don't. I see him waving for a cab and gets in. The woman shrugs. "Well, I guess I call my friend to pick me up." I nod and she's already on the phone with her friend and doesn't pays me no attention anymore.
I need to go inside somewhere to dry up. I look around and see a cute little coffeeshop across the corner. The lights shine bright through the windows. I walk towards the lights. It's like a force that sucks me in to walk that way. It seems to go in slow motion.
I enter the coffee shop. My clothes are so wet. I'm so wet, I guess I've never been this wet before... ha-ha. Stop it! I mean I have been wet before, but it was on the inside. Making love with my ex-boyfriend Ryan. What a douchebag he was. What am I doing? Thinking about my ex? Seriously?
I shake my thoughts away and find a seat at an empty table with four chairs. I place my wet bag on the seat next to where I will be sitting and take my wet coat off. I grunt to myself. I wish I were somewhere else. I take a few napkins from a holder on the table and try to wipe my face dry when a waiter stands before me. Where did he come from all the sudden?
He gives me a broad smile. "Hello and welcome to Happy Brewing can I take your order, please?" I quickly put the now wet napkins in my bag and wipe my, now wet hair away from my eyes. "Erm... a Cappuccino, please, no sugar." I smile at him. He nods and walks off. I look outside and lightning strikes. Not a moment after, thunder drums. By the hearing of it, this one was close by. A few customers look up and gasp. Then they talk inaudible. The waiter comes back and serves me my coffee. "Here you go, Miss." He smiles and winks at me. "Thanks", I smile back, and he walks away. I take a big sip from my Cappuccino. "Mm", I say a little louder than I expected I would. A couple of customers look up and I look at my coffee, feeling my cheeks burn. What am I doing? I think about my ex, I moan I a coffeeshop, what is wrong with me? Then I think to myself. When was the last time I had sex? Oh, I do not really want to go there. it must have been months...
