[Madison Fren POV]

My eyes fluttered open to the strong scent of Grayson's cologne smacking me in the face. As my eyes stared into the darkness of his room, I laid there in confusion. After gathering my thoughts, I rolled off the air mattress. As my eyes finally adjusted to the darkness, I searched the room for Grayson.

"Ugh," I heard a groan. "Stop following me, I need to go."

Suddenly, my eyes found Grayson's figure. A small dog stepped on his heels.

"Go where?" I say a little too loudly.

Grayson's head whipped around to me. "Dear God, Maddi." He let out a sharp breath. "Don't scare people like that."

I gave my eyes a hard rub, my attention fluttering to the window. Grayson's dark curtains denied me from seeing the time of day, so instead I searched for a clock. When I saw the bright, green numbers, my eyebrows knotted together.

"What the hell, Grayson." I grumbled, half of my body trying to resist the urge of waking up. "What are you doing awake at 4 in the morning?"

He didn't respond right away. Perhaps he was trying to think of a lie.

"Going somewhere?" I ask, already knowing it was an obvious yes. Why else would he be wearing cologne?

He hesitated before giving in. "That was the idea, Madison." His voice was agitated and impatient.

I stretched out my legs before using Grayson's bed as a crutch to stand up. I smoothed out my ruffled hair, stepping towards him.

"Okay, cool. Where are we going?" I ask, starting towards our closet. It was Friday night and a part of me felt betrayed that Grayson would exclude me from the fun.

"We?" By the sound of his voice, I could tell that his eyes grew in size. I quickly began to search the closet for something to wear. "No, no way. You're not coming with."

"Why not?" My lips tugged into a frown. Despite Grayson saying no, I had already began to change clothes. It was a shade too dark for him to even see me, and even if he could, he was facing away from me.

"Because, it's really late and it's a college bonfire. Plus, I don't need you there causing me trouble." Grayson grumbled. I had just tugged my shirt down over my head when I glanced in his direction. His silhouette was facing away from me, his fingers scrunching his hair.

"Come on, Grayson. I'm a big girl, plus, I promise not to cause you any trouble! The second we get there we can split up. I'll just hang out with Viol-"

"No. My sister is not coming. And neither are you." Grayson snapped.

"Fine." I huff, crossing my arms to my chest.

With what sounded like a sigh of relief, Grayson started towards his bedroom door.

[Grayson Foster POV]

I had just gripped the doorknob when Madison's voice erupted the short lived silence.

"However, I can't guarantee that Violet won't find out that you went to a party without her. And if Violet finds out, she'll definitely tell Mrs. and Mr. Foster." Madison's voice is poisoned with blackmail.

I groan, "Madison, there's going to be drugs there, and alcohol. Do you remember what happened last time alcohol was involved at a party? Because I sure do."

Madison glared at me, her expression taunting and unfazed.

I let out an agitated sigh of defeat. Why did Madison even want to go to a college party in the first place? I doubted she even had any college friends.
