[Madison Fren POV]
I shoved open the car door, stepping out. I brushed the aggravating wrinkles out of my red dress. Okay, so it wasn't my red dress, but Violets. It was the only dress I could find that was suitable for a party. I glanced back at Grayson who was watching as I stepped out.
"Have fun," he smirks as I slam the door shut.
"You too." I say sarcastically. The thought of him fooling around with other girls in the room I would be staying wasn't a pleasant thought.
After giving each other one last glare, he sped off down the street. Taking a deep breath, I took small steps towards the house. I could already hear the music blasting. There were even some people hanging out on the lawn. With every step I took, I regretted wearing heels miserably.
As I turned the knob to the front door of the big house, I came to realize my hands were sweaty and clammy. I casually wiped them off as I stepped through the door. Parties weren't really my thing, but yet I always find myself at them. Weird, right?
"Maddi! You're finally here!" I recognize Violet's voice and suddenly I'm engulfed in her arms. As I am being suffocated by my best friend, I notice a tall, blond and attractive guy near Violet.
After Violet leans away from the hug, she gives me a questioning look. "How did you get here?" I guess I understand why she asked, because I arrived through the door on my own.
"Grayson drove me." I respond, feeling uncomfortable in my own skin as I notice the attractive blond boy's eyes intensely roaming across my red dress. Next to him stood a familiar face, Austin, who was Violet's boyfriend.
"I thought I was your date, not this Grayson guy." Says the blond boy, his eyebrows raising.
"No, Grayson isn't her date. He is my stupid step-brother." Violet corrects the boy.
"Oh, Grayson Foster? I see him around school sometimes." My so-called date informs us.
"When he shows up to school, that is." Violet points out. I can barely hear her over the loud music echoing in my ear. People kept shoving past and screaming in my ear.
Suddenly, my eyes snap to the blond boy, who is edging towards me. I eyeball him suspiciously as he takes up the space next to me. I was taken back by his forwardness as he slithers his arm around me. Leaning his head in a bit, he whispers in my ear.
"Hey, I can make this your best first date, ever. I'm Quintin by the way." His lips brush against my ear as his words flow clearly. I feel my stomach drop. This guy had more confidence than Violet on a good hair day. Damn.
"Awh! You two are already getting along! Told you, Austin." Violet nudges her boyfriend. "Seeing that you guys are already hitting it off, me and Austin are going to go dance!"
I try my hardest to warn Violet with my eyes not to leave me here alone with this guy, but she doesn't seem to catch my plea. Grabbing the fabric to Austins shirt, she tugs him with her. Before I could chase after her, they disappeared into the crowd of drunk teens— leaving me with this attractive, yet overly confident guy.
Giving a nervous smile, I casually lean away from him, causing his arm to slide from my shoulders. Taking a small step back, I finally noticed how attractive he looked. His blond hair swept down across his forehead, and it wasn't hard to notice how he kept flipping his bangs from his eyes—which were a bright blue that seemed to draw me to him, despite the wildness of the party.
"We should go dance as well!" My words tumble quickly from my tongue. And before he could deny or even respond, I stepped past a couple of people. Just as expected, he followed behind. My eyes skimmed the room in search for Violet, although a couple of arms wrapping around my waste, pulled me back to reality.
