destery:

I was honestly so scared of losing her. she saw what happened with Cassidy. She had to know that it wasnt what i wanted. She was the only one i loved. Hilary was 100% perfection. i couldnt quite image what id be doing without her.

I sat on the couch staring at the wall for twenty minutes before i got up. i swung open the door and turned to face Hilary's appartment. there was a little yellow sticky note stuck to it. it said "Destery. come find me."

With that i went back to my apartment, slipped on my toms and grabbed the keys and fired the engine.

She was so important to me, and i had already wasted too much time being in shock.

i called her phone, but it was off. i scanned through the streets for her. She was wearing one of my black jackets and a yellow scarf.

I finally saw her.

She was sitting next to a fountain in the mall plaza where i took her to get ice cream.

the place of our first actual date.

as i neared closer i could see faint streaks of tears on her face. she kept wiping them dry with the sleeve of the black jacket.

"Hilary." i said, stiing next to her and wrapping my arms around her, almost bursting into tears.

"des..." she said, wimpering.

"Darling, i love you more than anything in this world, you have to know that i mean that,'

'but cassidy..."

"shes nothing to me. even when we dated she was just a lying, cheating theif and i never loved her. ill never take her back, because i never want to be with anyone else but you."

"aw des, i love you."

"i love you too, hilary."

'' uh, destery? i got you something."

"You didnt have to get me anything, sugar. i should be getting you something, if anything."

"i already bought it, silly. but we have to get to my apartment to see  what it is. its a surprise."

after the drive home, i spun around and opened the door for Hilary. She climbed out and kissed me, as i leaned to match her height. she was perfection. her lips where so soft, and she smelled like candy. there were butterflies in my stomach, partly  because of her little surprise present, and partly because i knew i was going to marry this girl.
